The 78-79 kits sold through georgefixs. Doing my second Larry rebuild.

This is so. The right vacuum slider was marginal when the carbs on the Maggot were rebuilt 3 years ago and now I think it is the cause of an intermittent low speed miss on acceleration. The sliders on this set are flawless.

Familiar with JIS and have ordered the Vessel set. I tend to use Phillips as a generic term. That said, most of the little darlings on this set required a hammer and chisel to break loose.

Carbs are done. New seals, jets, and float needles. And new button head Allen screws thoroughout. The floats were off by at least 1/4", dead nuts at .610"(15.5mm)now. I should scrounge up a couple more sets of these carbs to practice on. Doing a set every three years means things got done twice, even with Larry Cargills' book.

Only thing going today is the first lawn mowing of the year, so I should have the carbs on this afternoon. That in itself is a small project.

Those carburetors were a nice acquisition.

I need to mow the lawn, myself. I love summer.

I mowed for the first time almost a month ago. Picked up a third ZTR last week. Backup for the backup mower.

Carbs are in. Starts much better. Hi speed idle actually works. Mid range is good. WOT is OMG.(First time I've ever lifted the front wheel). Low end needs some work.

I benched synced this set just like I did the original set. Last set was 'one and done'. This set was 'a dozen times and still not right'. Hooking up my dual vacuum gauge set up after work tomorrow to get things synced up that way. Then futz with the pilot screws. That should take care of that problem. (I hope)

Lifting the front wheel on a CX500 is an accomplishment! They're front heavy beasts.

A 1/2" is a 1/2".

If you buy one, please let us know how it works for you. I see them for sale on CL occasionally, but all of my rides have only one lung.

Buy? Surely a Chinarider can see their way around this.

My only issue is that my wife stopped drinking Snapple.

Awesome! Now that you mention it, I do recall a similar set of instructions somewhere. Prolly Youtube.

Nothing beats a mercury stick, I've been using the same one for 40 years. They're not sold any longer but a little mercury in your diet is good for you. Hey, I think I hear the bandersnatch coming this way!

Man, the bike running good now...with the old carbs.

To paraphrase Star Wars Admiral Akbar, "They're crap." I had a buddy come by with his manometer last night and, try as we might, we just could not balance the new set. Time for a Mulligan.

I did go through the old set and found a bunch of crud on the slide valve emulsion tubes that got past the fuel filter. Also futzed with the high idle cam and got that working. No more missing.

Sure spent some money to go back to square one.
