New Qlink xf200 owner

Hi all, just joined to forum so I guess I should introduce myself. I started riding on a little 50cc pit bike about 5-6 years ago and since then I've had atleast 15 different rides (buying/fixing/selling on craigslist=$$$ ). I'm 16 now and after a couple months of argueing with my parents I went ahead and bought a 09 qlink xf200, 1500km for $1100. It's in perfect condition and I've put 500km on it in the past two weeks. Runs great.

Now naturally I've been pushing it to it's limits and I want a bit more power out of it. I read up on a lot of forum posts and went ahead and ordered 35 and 127.5 jets. coming in the mail today, I'll see how it goes.

My point is to ask you guys for advice on what else to modify. I would like to stick on a airfilter and a exhuast but I'm not sure if it will do much.

As far as cosmetics, ordered a led tail light to mount on a fabricated fender eliminator I'm going to put on, also ordered gold rim tape and suzuki decals to go over the qlink logos(lol).

Welcome!

In my best Dad voice, I highly recommend a motorcycle safety course. I'm sure you're well aquainted with riding (like my son is), but surviving on the road is a different ball game.

The XF200 is a sweet bike, but I wouldn't try to coax more power out of it (other than jets and maybe a new exhaust). We had one member who was on a quest to pull more power out of the 200cc motor, and he blew it up. As FastDoc is known to say, just enjoy the bike for what it is. It is one of the finest China bikes around.

Congratulations on getting one of the best CB's available (such as availability is nowadays). Brother Weld has given you great advise on all counts.

By the way, Q Link is apparently leaving the US and selling off inventory. I have Andy (a former Q dealer) looking into scoring a few at closeout prices ;-)

Welcome; we are glad you joined us.

X2 on everything my fellow moderators have stated. The QLink XF200 is one of the nicest, Chinese, dual sport motorcycles ever produced. However, you can only get so much power out of a 200cc, air cooled, carbureted engine. I strongly suggest you limit your engine modifications to a different muffler, and the proper carburetor jets.

If you have time, please post photographs of your bike! We love photos.

If I didn't have my Zong and three other motorcycles, I would be sorely tempted to buy one of the closeout XF200 bikes.

Thanks for the fast replies, very helpful information. As far as being safe on a bike I'm diffenetly taking the msf course (I have to since I'm under 18 anyways) so no worries there.

Looks like jets is what I'll try out for now, putting them on today. For now and maybe an exhuast once I get my paycheck. What is the best exhuast for under $200? I have a ton of pictures and I'll post some up in the near future.

Would a K&N air filter + ngk spark plug do me any good with the new jets???

Those qlinks are nice! I don't know if the exhaust is like my bird, but there is a little bulge in the head pipe that I'm going to remove. I'll let you know how it works out. Wink wink

Depending on where you live (Altitude above or below sea-level) the new jetting might be a little on the lean side for a K&N style air filter, I would recommend changing the gearing to a 44 tooth rear sprocket and then decide if you like the 15/44 ratio or want to try a 16/44.

As for exhaust systems: for around $230-250 area you can get a full exhaust (header and silencer) Pro circuit Drz125 or a slip on as the stock header is fine but the stock muffler has a cat in it.

And last keep the oil and filters changed regularly and try to hold off on pushing the bike to it's limits, that is if you want it to last.

Contact JP Motorsports of San Diego. They have been the biggest Qlink dealer in the US for the XF/XP 200. They had a custom exhaust for the XF/XP 200 about 5 years ago; I think they were made by FMF. I might be buying a new one this week from them, and the head sales guy, ‘Smitty' said they put on a one tooth larger counter sprocket to get a few extra mph out of the bike. You can ask him if they carry those, as well as a smaller rear sprocket. In my opinion, I would even start with a new front and rear sprocket before anything else. Then play with the exhaust and jets.

JP Motorsports bought 30 of them a few weeks ago, and are down to their last 10. 2 are orange I have a line on one of those, possibly by this weekend. The TMEC has been giving me problems the past couple days, and it might not be fixable... and I need something to get me to work and back!

However, Excalibur have given me a quote on a brand new TMEC 200 which will end up far lower cost to me then the price of the Qlink with interest ( 2 years of payments) and the $315 down payment. Decisions, decisions!

I put in my 125 main and 35 pilot jets. I guess there's a little difference but I think it will be complemented by a new exhaust. I'm think of ordering a pro circuit t4 slip on and then that's it for performance.
I picked up some gold reflective rim stripes and suzuki decals off ebay, turned out pretty nice. I also ordered a tail light and I made a fender eliminator out of sheet metal which looks a lot better then the ugly stock "tail" but I don't have pics of it yet, Here's pictures before and after the jets and decals:

Put a little old, brake fluid on a paper towel, and you can rub the QLink lettering off your saddle. Just make sure to clean the saddle with lots of soap and water after you are finished.
