What would you choose

I have a 25 foot class C RV with a 460 V-8. I pull a 16 foot enclosed car hauler. Since the RV is only 25ft, I use the trailer to hold extra cloths, tools and supplies, and TOYS! The toy list consists of 2 kayaks and my Hawk 250. Since the Hawk can only carry 330 lbs, and I weigh 210, I need another motorcycle...or 2!

So, here's where you and your experiences come in. If you can only carry 2 motorcycles, what would they be? If I have to go on a major shopping spree, I'll just take the RV. For picking up little things, going out or just going exploring, I need a couple of do-it-all motorcycles. Unfortunately, money is an object, so I would like to keep the combined price in the 5-6 thousand mark.

I was originally thinking 2 dual sport motorcycles, like Hawks or TT250s. Right now, I live in Florida, but I don't know where the wind will take me. Here's some of the other options I was thinking of: a couple of used Groms (or new Grom clones), a couple of used 250 Ninjas or CBRs, or maybe a couple of used RX3s.

All of the bikes have pluses and minuses. What are your thoughts? What would you do?

Have a great weekend!

I would definitely lean towards two dual sports. Personally I'd get two Hawks. But whatever I got I'd get them identical for ease of carrying spare parts. Two Hawks are cheaper than one Japanese bike. They are small and light so easy to haul. Still big enough to go anywhere you desire though.

I like your thinking! Two identical bikes makes maintenance and parts easier. 1 Japanese bike or 2 Chinese bikes, yeah price does play a role in the equation!

My top choice would be two Yamaha TW200 dual sports or two Yamaha XT250 dual sports. The newer XT250 has FI so no carb problems to deal with. I'm usually a diehard Suzuki geek when it comes to road riding, but the past few years I have let a few outsiders into my heart.

I do like the Yamaha XT 250! They are offering it in Sandy Beige. At first I didn't think I would like that color, but it looks good! The down side is the $5,200 price tag!

Is there a Mrs. Kirbo? If so, does she ride? If she is inclined to ride, perhaps a 150cc GY6 scooter would be a good addition. As much as I love my dual sport bikes, it's hard to beat a scooter for hauling groceries, etc. They usually have a grocery bag hook in the foot area as well as a decent trunk.
If not a scooter, then I'd recommend another Hawk.

I'm confused with your post. are you looking for a pair of bikes to ride at the same time? I was thinking along the lines of alternate bikes that would serve different purposes while on a trip. like a dirt bike and a street bike.
