Might not be technically legal to ship here. They would be happy to take your money, and send the engine, but it might end up getting confiscated at the port. Don't want to be a buzzkill, but someone had to bring it up.

Love that engine.

Regarding confiscation so if it is not going on a street bike why would it be confiscated? Just trying to understand.

Every gasoline engine is supposed to be EPA certified. As far as whole bikes go, they are either on-road or off-road, and my guess is, the same is true of replacement engines. This engine, and I am assuming it is not EPA certified, is not supposed to be shipped here. It might make it through, but if enough people order them, eventually they run the risk of confiscation. They are shipped directly from China, so there is no risk for the seller, only the buyer. My post is just an fyi and individual circumstances probably will vary (i.e. some making it through)

If inspector gets it , or doesn't . Kinda of a gamble . If it happens to go up for inspection and not on the database and gets rejected, then what happens? Does our government have to destroy? Do they ship it back?

Seems to have Smog/air machining on cylinder head. Plus, it has a 15 tooth sprocket, carburetor and CDI.

I saw that. Make me think this is EPA approved. The latest list of EPA approved motorcycles has the Loncin LX250-8 as approved. I wonder if this is the same engine that is on that bike?

A KLX engine would do nicely, too!

What are the two aluminium screw caps for on the valve cover? They look like the same casting as the oil cleaner cap on the 229cc Zongshen motor.

I'm curious about the head clearance on the frame.

That to access the valves for adjustment. It has a overhead cam. After comparing dimensions between this engine and the Hawk engine it looks like it will be almost a direct bolt up. Looks like close to the same clearance on the head. I'm trying to find more detailed dimensions on it to varify.

If the six speed transmission is inspired by Honda, there is simply an extra gear between 2-3 or 3-4 (can't recall which); it's not likely to be an overdrive gear. Think of it more like a close-ratio transmission that always allows you to be in the ideal gear for racing.

I can't figure out the design of this motor. The dipstick is in an odd position to be copied from Honda, yet the clutch arm is on the correct side. There is no visible bump for the countershaft, hinting that it's designed more like a KLR250. Hmm...

I suspect it would bolt in to any Honda-inspired China bike.
