maybe its a copy of the trail 230's on the market?

sorry i didnt quote but someone above in the thread asked what bike its a clone of, not sure but i came across this while researching bikes, i thought this honda 230 was possibly the bike they based the x31 (body style anyways) after..

honda 230

gio x31

Now i see both pics theyre not really That close, but mine sits low like the 230's it doesnt really sit as high as it looks in the above picture.

yamaha 230

Ps why do the 230's have rear drum brakes?

honda XR230 clone...... the bikes are not clones of eachother.
on this forum people often say "honda clone"
Mainly because the chinese did a copy paste of the engine plans.

counting down the days till i can go a rip around the block :P

Rear drums work perfectly well on a 230...

Welcome back! You know, we talk about bikes all winter long, too.

Sounds like torture to me, if i was still involved CR during the winter i would have had to fight the urge to ride in winter even more. Im really proud of myself for not taking out the bike this winter...it was hard, very hard

IM BACK. officially

I think you'd win the contest. My China bikes look like junk compared to yours.

i ordered:
- 250cc racing cdi (performance chip) 10$
- aluminum CNC throttle control 40$
- protaper handlebar foam 10$
- universal handguards 20$

lol i also order a tubular scarf with a skeleton face, no more eating bugs and dirt for me XD

i found a guy that works on these bikes, hes going to tune (perhaps re-jet) my mikuni carb, adjust my hydro clutch and suspension, set the valves for a wicked price. the rest i will do myself.

afterwards i will probably order a Kenda Millville rear tire, a spare chain, CO2 emergency tire refill containers...im starting to build a "trail kit/emergency kit" with a decent amount of tools and spare parts along with rope, straps and things like that.

the bike wont be "high compression Gio head turning monster" but shes gonna be tuned up real nice

I finally cooked my ignition wire!
Killed the 3 phase rectifier too.
I probably did what most people do and bypassed the fuse rather than pushing the bike 3 miles back to the house!

I will be upgrading the wire to an appropriate gauge, a new rectifier and replace the ridiculous glass fuses with a standard automotive blade fuse. Much easier and cheaper to deal with.
I am also about to do a repaint and decal the plastics with custom, borderline morbid tribal graphics, a wicked large red chrome plastic skull replacing the fork racing number plate and a few other extras like tribal gothic mirrors set under the bars instead of above like a motorcycle.
I even have a spun aluminum canister 12 volt LED half built I might put on if it doesn't become a hassle.

And then...I'm gonna sell it!
I just don't have a place to ride it the way I see things.
Small town is overgrown, most the woods are gone and what's left is mostly cut for 4 wheelers. I had a hell of a time navigating through the 4 wheeler ruts cut into the paths especially on the turns. Got thrown off a couple times just putting through them.
I'm too banged up for my age as it is and need the cash for college, my business and my band.
As good of shape as I am in, I think with the injuries and surgeries I went through as a kid I am only suited for 4 wheels!

I came up with that air box mod which was a tremendous boost in power and have a couple good plugs both brand new. I also have the older Xangshen engine that's said to be better along with the genuine Mikuni carb I ran the numbers on it.
I have a spare, unused tire, new battery, custom brake and shift pegs, 2 sets of custom grips, a new in the box floating trailer/ramp for the bike to sit sideways at the back of a truck/car/van in the square hitch pipe, chest protector, wicked evil helmet and probably a few other goodies.
The bike as fun as it is on the street compared to the dirt has hardly been ridden and has a ton of upgrades.
I'm thinking $1300 for everything. That's about $800 under what has gone into it.

I might be a bit hopeful with that target price but I figure with all that I have it is a hell of a deal and if they want to low ball me, I'll pull everything and let the bike and spare tire go for a grand.
Every time I do something to it or just look at it, it's really hard to sell but I will never ride it enough to justify keeping it. If it were a street bike then that's a completely different story.......

Hows it going buds, i just bought an old gio x31, and ive replaced the carb but now it'll idle smooth but when i throttle up it starts misfiring. I imagine i just have to tune the carb up a little better but any advice you guys might have would be much appreciated

Danny open up your own new thread for your bike and problem we can help you out. First thing I will tell you to look at is your choke. Make sure when the bike is started and warmed up the choke is fully open. You might need to physically check this by removing the air filter and inspecting the choke plate. You will only need to do this once to confirm open choke position.

Welcome
