Fighter jets??

Airshow, I presume.

Last I checked Canada and the US are still at peace ;-)

The wall is going up on the SOUTHERN border (LOL)

A cool thought just occured to me. Canada has NO northern border.

Naval air base. We won't be camping there again.

Just because it's a boys bike makes it worth it ,for every boys bike like that one there are two or three girls bikes because they looked after them better in general than the boys .

Thanks, Weld, but I'm buried in projects myself.

It would be interesting, though, to see if it was equipped with the one year only SW hub. I've only seen two in my lifetime.

The SW was to be the replacement to the ubiquitous AW hub. Smaller, lighter, and silent. It turned out that the SW required tighter tolerances than Sturmey Archer was capable of doing and the hub was plagued with problems. It was introduced in 1957 and withdrawn in 1958. The AW was quietly reintroduced.

I have heard of the occasional hub that got made right and they are supposedly a joy. Mostly, though, they are ca ca. I'd still like to get my hands on one to mess with, though.

How would a layperson (such as myself) identify one?

The hub shell would be stamped 'Sturmey Archer SW' and be about as big around as a current coaster brake hub. I may have an SW shell in my stash. If I still do, I'll post a pic of the SW and AW side by side.

Here is a pic of the more recent Whizzer Ambassador. No pedals. Same 135cc engine. Production of the Ambassador ended a few years back.

I did have an SW shell in my stash.

So here's the pic. The SW is on the left, AW on the right.

The only hub parts that interchange are the axle nuts.

Bit of a close up of the SW shell. It's from the first run.

I spotted one of these, minus the engine, on Craigslist earlier this week and thought it was just about the perfect platform for the diesel project. Too much money and no title, though.

I once considered finding an Ambassador with a dead motor and swapping in a Harbor Freight v-twin with a Comet CVT.
