Introduction and Question about Hawk 250

Hello, i'm from Argentina and first timer here also a very very new rider.

In Argentina, Hawks 250 are being sold as Zanellas ZR 250. This company been making small bikes since the 40s, but since the 90s the just order the bikes to china.
They sold the Hawk 250 in two flavors, the one with the "250" which is 230 and they also sell the same bike but with the 162fmj (150cc). I got the one with the 150 since this is my first bike and i'm just learning.

While i'm new in the world of motorcycles, i been modding cars for a good time.
So i'm trying to improve the bike, part by part and putting standard parts instead of the chinese ones.
So far i changed the part of the wiring, the Spark plug with a Ngk D8ea. The chinese oil had the same viscosity of water, so i put some Mobil1 20w50 which is Ok for the weather we have here.
Just today i changed the generic battery for a Yuasa 12n9-3b, which more amps and it needs just a little mod to the airfilter box.

Took special care to avoid blocking the exhaust of the battery.




Now i have a few question about the bike:
Which is the best sprocket combo for this bike?? I Want to use it for off-road mostly so i was 14-55 since i don't care about top speed but i want to be able to use all the torque i can.

Also is there any compete exhaust system that fits the bikes???

that "Argentinian" Hawk 250" looks like the brozz bike to me (a Chongqing Astronautic Bashan Motorcycle Manufacturing Co). members , please chime in if you please.

you have a great bike (150cc), and are doing the right thing to take it slow being a new rider. i am also a new rider as of last year. i suggest you take the back roads and often (experiences will make you wise in the 2 wheeled world). resist the urge to show off to your buddies, usually results in busted rear fenders . you will gain much experience by doing this and will become a greater rider for it than most street bikers.

Could be, it's hard to tell with the Chinese bikes, since they share a lot. So far everything been on specs with the Hawk 250. Yeah I'm taking step by step, for the same price i got this one, i let pass a modded 1992 XLR 250. But that 250 was too much for skills at the time.

I don't see the fins in front of the engine case. The first picture has a rear disk brake that looks like the Hawk. The second picture looks like a rear drum brake with the rod over the top of the swing arm.

If I were to change the battery in any bike I'd likely go with a LiFePo4. Small, light, and fairly cheap on amazon. The standard battery in my CBR1100 was about 8#, the replacement Battery Tender branded LiFePo is about 2#. The battery I took out was still good, tested with two Midtronics inductive testers and a load tester, but the new one cranks so much better. It also holds the charge for a very long time between uses and it recharges faster. It was pretty close to the $ of a Yuasa which made it a no-brainer. Just for fun I used it to start my forklift and it cranked as good as the battery it normally uses that weighs about 40#.

Molly is Labrador Heeler cross that can put her ears up and won't bring the ball back.

That is from the shelter before I adopted her.

The top pic has a counter balanced motor the bottom pic does not. The swingarm is definitely HAWK. It will say on the sticker thats on the steering stem if its a CHONGQINGPONGJINGPOW ASTRONAUT BASHER SCIENTIST MOTOBIKE CO! LOL

It is Amazing the name branding they use sometimes... They should stick with simple names, like the state owned "Norinco".

About labels, they remove every single label and put new ones. The only thing that remains from the Factory is a small "Made in China" in the manual...

Same thing happens with other chinese brands... Zong Shen are rebranded to "Corven" and you cannot find a single sticker that says who actually made it...
