I see the ssr sr250 is at 260 lbs

Make sure to check the specs on that xtr250 pitster. Only 223lbs and almost same cc motor, and aluminum wheels, and has digital speedo and duel sport street capability. About $2800 per website

Choose wisely grasshopper.

Thumbs Up

Thanks BB.
SSR is the only Chinese bike I'm aware of which can actually compete against the best bikes in pro Mx racing. That's saying a helluva lot re: the toughness of SSR bikes. At < that level the deciding factor is rider, not bike.

Cool, I'm just enjoying researching these next level price bikes.

This has 65 pics of your ssr model. Looks like honda level eng. w/o the fuel injection. High quality.25.8 hp @ 9000 rpm

Most YZ, RM & KX parts are made in China if not the entire freakin' bike. All Tokyo does is box it up, slap a HUGE markup on the price tag & ship it to the US & Canada.

I went to my local SSR dealership today. I was shocked how freakun' big the 450 was. The seat is about waist high. I couldn't even touch both big toes on the damn floor! He didn't have a 250 but its only 7\8th shorter & 5lbs lighter than the 450 so its plenty big enough I just need to talk to SSR & see if I'm too heavy (245lbs, muscle NOT a fatass). Badd Ass Bike! He told me SSR was started by (4) guys who worked for Honda & when the CR patent expired they left w\ the CRF plans under their arms. This explains why the SSR 250/450 is basically a CRF clone.

450mx, a beast. That why it is capable of clearing just the tops in the whoops on the courses. Those supercrossers are unreal.

You always hear those disgruntled engineer stories (true???). Kind like the one with Sony and Vizio (but Vizio makes great TV s too)

Makes me think the 250 is not only a better choice for me but for damn near everyone. Once 4-stroke technology has progressed enough squeeze another 7-10hp or 15-20ft/lbs of torque from a 250cc engine the days if the smoker-2stroker will be over.

Welcome to here!

This is the OEM of the SSR bikes--Asiawing.

http://www.asiawing.com/index.php?cateid=1

Asiawing was one of the first companies to offer a Chinese dual sport via the 'Odes' brand over 200cc. They called it a '250' but it was most likely 229cc like the Hawk and Bashan offerings. This was probably around 2005 or 2006.

The Asiawing 250cc bike sold by SSR has the same-ish liquid-cooled engine as the Zongshen RX3 adventure dual sport that has a huge following here on Chinariders. It is a Zongshen manufactured motor, but with a few differences such as 5 speed vs. the 6 speed in the RX3.

I just picked up a new SR250S a few days ago- I've barely gotten to ride it yet, but have been screwing around with it in the garage and scouring the internet looking for information about where some of the parts come from.

I got the white one, it's really nice looking! I'm a street rider primarily but wanted a play bike to ride with my kids, and when I compared the 250 to the aircooled japanese 230s, I felt like I was getting more bike for less money.

I'll post some pictures when I get a moment!

I managed to get one this weekend, I'll roll it out of the garage this evening and get some proper shots

at the moment, I'm working on a scheme to get a spark arrestor installed, since I've got a lot of national park land available to ride on. According to SSR, they don't have a retro-fittable option at the moment, so I'll either need to make one myself, or spring for an aftermarket exhaust. Since the factory can looks nice enough, I think I'm going to open it up and try a retrofit. Will keep you posted!
