About to pull the carb for an inspection and cleaning. Rebuild kit is on the way just in case. I might have already said this but, having one carb makes the whole thing a lot easier(cheaper). Dont miss my gs 550 until I hit the gas at 60 mph. Lol

Thank you! Still tossing around 17s vs 18s.
As far as missing your GS, shop for a bike like you would for a hooker. Dark alley, 20 dolla holla! |

Really depends on what you want to do tire wise. 18 will give you more options for slightly better dirt tires. 17 opens the world to very few dirt worthy tires, but killer street tires.

99% pavement 1% gravel. How well do your 17s handle gravel?

We have the golf ball + size gravel here. Doesnt matter what tires you have, they all suck when your randomly changing 2-3".

Well new tail light came in, got it installed and wired up. Every thing looks good to go with the light. Road to work today, the lack of duckbill and radiator shrouds made for a much more enjoyable hwy ride.
Has anyone tried any of the rubber isolated foot pegs? My feet darn near fell asleep. |

So about 2 weeks ago I laid the bike down parking... lol Broke a toe or two most likely, possibly other parts. Either way it gave me time to sit and stare at the bike.
Some how I still havent returned the brush guards that would have saved my grip, the only damage from the oopps. Decided to rework my seat a little more. Remove the hack job finish and reshape a couple of spots. Also rigged up some side covers to prevent cross winds at the filter. Not completely smooth but worlds of difference. Really worked to make it easier for the legs to reach. Im as thin as it can go with out being bare plastic on top and sides where the tank starts. Tried to remove some of the angle, but in my hurry during the hack job I removed to much to be able to flatten the seat angle completely. Here is the other cover and another view of the seat. Still need to detab the plastic on that side. Now all I need is to be able to go for a test ride. Foot is doing great, but not sure its up for brake duty yet. Lesson learned, dont wear your trail running shoes on the bike. My cheap hiking boots would have saved my toes for the most part. |

I'm glad your toes are recovering. I really like the work you have done with the saddle.

Hiking boots might have saved your toes, but not necessarily. The only real protection would be MX boots, but who wants to wear those on a DS?
Nice job on the seat. It looks like you have a stainless header. Will a magnet stick to it?
