is 50mph to fast

I have a 200cc 163fml engine with 15 50 sprockets is 50 mph to fast for bike it also has 18" rear 21" front tires. I had it on road yesterday (just got learners permit) and was doing 50 but I don't want to kill motor also about how many rpms is it doing at that speed cause I don't have a tach

The vibrations on these things make it seem like they are ready to explode! Nothing wrong with that speed (engine wise) but as far as the rest of the bike, all the parts of the bike start vibrating off, and you never know where they end up.

My TMEC has the 200cc 167 FML engine, which comes stock with a 17t front sprocket and 56 tooth rear. I have changed out the rear for a 48 tooth, but have no plans for the front. I would consider looking for a 17 front if I were you. I think the XR200 ones work if I remember, but someone can chime in to confirm this.

Get one of these. No use at night, but helps you understand where the engine is at when tuning.

Eventually I'd like to get a set of 16 46 sprockets and new chain I just don't want to push the bike to hard with stock gearing also weldngrind sent me link to jt sprockets and the jtf259 fits front and jtr269 for the rear the great thing about it is it has the measurements also why get an hour meter and eventualy I'm gonna get trail tech vapor

The hour meter/ inductive tach gives you a working tach now for under 20 bucks. I prefer to have a tach, helps diagnose issues also.

From the factory, most of these 200's are geared way too low for the street. Most people change to a 45 or so sprocket.

Weld, do you know if the 259 and 269 sprockets also fit the 169FML equipped bikes? I was searching for Honda off road sprockets and they all appear to be 520 chain pitch. I do plan on re gearing my bike and replacing the chain since it has sat for a few years.

I agree with the realy low gearing maybe they don't expect peaople to go 55 on them

I agree with FastDoc. If you change the sprockets you will discover the engine will undergo much less stress while riding on pavement.

Would a 17 46 be to high for the bike and might be able to get everything beginning of next month just gotta talk wife into it lol

That was the stock combo on the lifan GY5. It works well for street use.

Mine is a 48t rear/17t front since that is the highest rear I could find already made (JTR1134.48) rather than having another one custom made. It works great, but if JT made a 46, or even a 44, I would have preferred one of those over the 48, so you should be fine with a 17/46 or a 16/46.

Those were very streetable, based on the numerous chinariders members who owned the GY5 (I only the pleasure of riding one once on a test ride last year and did not have a chance to try it out at high speeds); I wish more companies took that lead and started using more street friendly gearing out of the box, but it seems most have gone back to the ol' 56 tooth torture test on the rear. I tried to convince TMEC's 200cc enduro's distributor, Excalibur Motorsports, as far as using at least a 46 rear, but I think they mentioned it having to do with a common chain size and common rear sprocket making the manufacturing more streamlined at the factory.

I also had an ongoing discussion with Bashan's North American rep about their recently released enduro bikes, including sprocket sizes, but he also mentioned it has to do with suppliers and streamlining the manufacturing process. However, it is far easier finding Honda-based aftermarket sprockets for most of these bikes anyway, so the point is generally not a big issue, with the TMEC being a pain in the butt exception due to the bolt pattern they use for some odd reason?!

I always wondered what they used on lifans cause my wifes old one was nice not having to keep shifting it. I shouldve swapped sprockets with it before sold it

I'm pretty sure they're correct. The secret is to search the JT catalogue for bikes under 200cc, and you'll find the XL185. http://www.jtsprockets.com/catalogue/model/5124
