Vader - exhaust mod - slip on muffler

So I received my nice looking imitation Yoshi muffler. It looks nice and it seems to be a decent build.

I looked at my stock muffler and somebody mentioned that you can twist off the stock one but when I look at it, it looks like it's weld on pretty good. Do I need to take it to the shop to have that removed? Also, I wonder if there is enough of a pipe in there for me to slip the new muffler over? I can see the reducer is not small enough so I will need to find another reducer to make the slip on fit properly. What do you guys think?

i am positive the whole exhaust is welded on so i dont know how will get it on with out cutting the pipe

Try cutting on the muffler first right pass the weld That way you won't be cutting the pipe. Then you can just grind off the weld off the pipe after.

Ditto that, I would cut the tapered end of the muffler at the point where it matches the inside diameter of the new can, tack weld the spring retainers and it should slip right on. The key word being "should"

Yeah, I have an angle grinder and will undertake this task this weekend. Taking a huge risk here as I have never done this. Will let you guys know how it goes.

So I undid the two extended bolts and removed the whole exhaust. That was fairly easy.

I used an angle grinder to remove the muffler. It took a bit of effort but I was finally able to separate the pipe from the muffler. This is what was left behind. The stock muffler is pretty hefty. I tossed it.

I had gone to Autozone and picked up a 1 1/2" to 1 3/8" adapter and 1 1/2" clamp. Total is about $5

The adapter fit nicely with the reducer that came with the muffler.

I then reinstalled the pipe and attached the included clamp to the existing support, using a vise grip to squeeze the bracket while I bolted it on

Here is what it looks like on the bike. I used the db killer that came with the muffler but did remove the little plate on the db killer. I have to admit, it sounds very legit now but not as loud as a Harley, which is fine by me. Overall, it was not as difficult as I thought it would be.

Thanks! Here is a video of what the muffler sounds like. It's definitely not like a Harley, but it is significantly louder than the stock. I'm not looking for real loud, just something like a motorcycle. The stock sounded like one step above a moped.

Nice job! I really want to change out the exhaust on my vader and this might be the way for me to go since I have zero welding experience.

Yeah, I recommend it. An angle grinder with metal plate will run you less than $25 with the coupon Harbor Freight. The grinding process generates a lot of sparks and is loud, but it was pretty fun. Just stay away from flammable materials! haha.

I ended up getting some muffler cement to help seal the joint from the main stock pipe and the adapter. Overall, the process took only about an hour.

I'm really liking that exhaust. One of the Leo Vince cans on my Aprilia is dented and in need of replacement. I can get a pair of those for 1/5 the $$ of a LV muffler. What's the overall length of the muffler?

I'll probably order one next week and take a chance! Did you rejet or anything for it?

No, I have not rejet. I was already at a high jet (125) so I'm going to see how this goes.
