Another reply from SSR is that they are working on the owner's manual now. Still no availability date.

I liked the guy at SSR. Before I bought my Storm, I had called and talked to them about one of the bikes and got a pretty good synopsis of the company. They were testing and presenting one model for the military and also certifying for Cali.

I like that blue Buccaneer. Decent gas tank and good power. I would consider one and fully scramblerize it.

SSR has posted MSRP's for these bikes.

I would expect the Snake eyes to have CARB approval due to using the same powertrain as the XF250. I like it a lot minus the seat...

SNAKE EYES
MSRP: $3,159.00
COMING SOON
BUCCANEER CLASSIC MSRP: $3,399.00 COMING SOON BUCCANEER CAFE MSRP: $3,499.00 COMING SOON

Perfect timing for this topic...Lifan will have a few new bikes coming to the US. I got some 'inside' information, and what I understand is they have 6 or 7 bikes coming, and they will be phasing out their Pony 100, meaning it won't be one of the 6 or 7 bikes. One bike will possibly be their Grom-like mini (I know you are thinking, "another one?"), but theirs has a 150cc engine, and the engine is vertical. Thanks to many factors, including DOT/EPA, could be a while, though, so time will tell.

2LZ, I didn't even think to ask, but perhaps I am so used to the answer being "Californians need not apply" that I (subconsciously) didn't bother to ask?! They are in So. California, but as we know too well, that doesn't mean anything, unless it has to do with off-road-only motorsports products, which must be far more lenient to CARB certify.

My guess is--their lineup will be predominantly 49 state legal, but that is my guess. If they plan to be a 'player,' which many aspiring companies do, they need to include California, which some have done. However, at the price points we are used to Chinese bikes being at, I am most certain CARB certification is cost-prohibitive.

If they are strategizing, I would think that their mini 150 would be a good bike to CARB, because, if I am not mistaken, 150cc is the minimum engine size to take a motorcycle on the freeways. I remember Joe from CSC posting videos of him riding on the greater L.A. metropolitan area freeways on his little Mustang replica 150 when CSC manufactured those (I was hoping to see videos of their 229cc Mustang on the freeway when they manufactured those). Perhaps Lifan will throw in a KP(R)200 fuel-injected engine into a mini? And CARB certify it! That would be interesting for you California guys...

Anyone in San Diego (or Yuma, AZ because this is my closest SSR dealer) SSR has the Benelli 600 in stock. Surprisingly, they don't have the SSR staple, the XF250, offered, but they do have a spattering of other SSR bikes. I know that a shipment of XF250 came in this year, as a few online dealers were offering the 2016's, but JP has not picked any up as of late. My guess is they will throw in a Buccanneer or two, and the Snake Eyes

Benelli TNT

That TNT 600 has some insane plastics, would look better with the smaller 300 plastics

Here's another write up on the Benelli TNT 300. This one is red. My local dealer has a BN 302, but no TNTs.

Is your local dealer an SSR dealer as well? I am guessing they are, but I would think that dealers could pick up just Benelli or just SSR if they wanted to.

Thanks for article. Tough world when only separation of $1000 or less between budget names and big 4 brands. Benelli has unique styling however with that naked frame area, Looks cool.

Prices are about a $1000 too high for a Chinese bike IMHO.
