Angry Hawk 250 battery leak

So after a fun ride I parked my hawk in the garage. Soon I came back and found a pool of liquid, which I though was oil. Searching for the source I found out it was battery acid.

Now the problem I have is that the nuts and bolts on the battery are so corroded that I can even loosen them to get them off. Any ideas on where to go now?

mix up baking soda and h20

Mix up plenty of baking soda with water to wash down / neutralize the acid. Closed cell foam from packages cut up works great with rubber cement inside the battery box as a cushion to prevent future battery destruction.

Slightly off topic but anyone tried sealed AGM deep cycles on these? It's the most rugged battery tech there is outside the edison nife batteries(not good for cranking) except the same or less as these flooded batteries.. There is likely an exact-dimension replacement maybe even with better CCA and AH

Typical AGM (NON deep cycle) = http://www.chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=20893

39.95+ free shipping AGM 130 CCA AND 6 AH

https://www.amazon.com/ThrottleX-Bat.../dp/B00DZ359RI

That's probably as good as it gets since it's half the price of the BTL14A240C

If you were using the stock Hawk battery, those white caps have to be checked every so often as they can loosen up over time and leak battery acid. Definitely best to go with a sealed battery to replace the stock one.

Great find on that one...the main advantages of lithium batteries is their light weight and they hold charge better than other types of batteries. The downsides is that their power output and discharge rates are definitely affected by cold weather...additionally you need lithium-compatible battery chargers as well. Standard battery chargers can cause a lithium batt to explode. Prefer standard batteries for ATV's (like the one linked by DualSport) over lithium for that reason.

I'd still go with the lead acid AGM for economy. Battery Tender makes some of the best chargers and trickle chargers though..
