I've thought about doing this myself. By advancing the timing you may lose some low end power but will increase top end. At the same time you will have to run a higher octane fuel to compensate for the higher timing. But the correct way to do this is to get a programmable CDI to that you can keep the time where it is now in the lower rpm and increase timing in the higher rpm range.
