Upgraded my throttle tube on my XF250

My stock throttle tube broke on me while riding a couple of weeks ago. I was able to get one ordered under warranty from the dealer but it's taking too long to get here... Time to take things into my own hands.

So I did some research and found that a Suzuki RMZ250/450 or Yamaha YZ250F/WR250F throttle tube may work (bought a Pro Taper clamp on grip kit, used that to find the bike models that could work on mine by trying out their different cams). I wanted an aluminum one so I took the plunge and bought this:

Got the tube today and it looks close enough...

Overall it works fine. It's not the best fitting (there's some play when starting to twist the throttle) but I can go from idle to full throttle without binding. You don't really notice the play while sitting on the seat though. Overall I think it should work. I went on about a 20 mile ride today but I have yet to try my daily commute for a few days with it. I'll update as this as soon as I can.

Some extra play in the throttle cable could be removed at the green metal elbow with the nut/threaded end below the throttle tube. You can get some out at the carb linkage as well.

I'm interested in this upgrade.

6 miles one way. So I'll update after a few days of riding. The ride to work this morning was pretty good though. Throttle tube felt great.

My 11 year old tube is still working but last time I changed grips, it seems to be getting thinner. I may try this, as well.

A note for anybody who wants to attempt this... The throttle tube I used is apparently compatible with G2 Ergonomics's throttle cams so if you wanted a quick turn version or needed a new cam because your old one is worn out, you could buy one of their cams to replace your cam.

Okey dokey guys. After a week of commuting I can say this throttle cable works pretty good. There seems to be no difference compared to the stock. It feels pretty good and works without binding or sticking. Highly recommend mod for any fellow XF250 owners.
