Hawk battery

Well, after almost 3 years, my original battery that came on my Hawk has finally died. I haven’t seen any recent discussions on replacement batteries. What do you guys recommend?

Thanks Jerry. The price is sure good on that one but I’m concerned about it only having 130CCA. Does it crank your Hawk sufficiently? I know how thrifty you are on your Hawk so I knew you’d link me to the cheapest one available lol.

It spends it better than the original battery did.

The original battery was rated around 120-130cca iirc. These tiny little motors don't need much to turn over.

I have this little guy in my Hawk. They went up in price since I ordered mine last year. Almost 40% higher now. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

An AGM battery from Battery Tender that will work. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HNTCLKY...detail_9?psc=1

A lithium iron phosphate battery with restart function that works. A bit pricey, but most lithiums are. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079V1B82Y..._t2_B00VM7P0VY

If you are feeling particularly rich.... https://www.amazon.com/Antigravity-B...ords=AG-ytz7-8

Is there a minimum on Amp hours? I see a range of 4AH to 9AH a lot. Any benefit?

I would recommend at least 6. That is sufficient for these bikes.

EDIT I should state that 6 is a personal preference. You could go as low as 3 or 4 as long as you aren't powering a lot of accessories such as extra lights, chargers, etc.

The stock wet 12N6.5 can't reach those figure. Typical is ~60cca http://www.leoch.com/pdf/sli/motorcy.../12N6.5-3B.pdf CCA: a measurement of the number of amps a battery can deliver at 0 ° F for 30 seconds and not drop below 7.2 volts. CA: cranking amps measured at 32 degrees F aka marine cranking amps (MCA) are more useful in m/c. Riding a bike when there's ice/ snow...
http://mxjidian.com/index.php?s=/Product/pinfo/ptid/176 tells what a starter motor draws normally...

Thank you for the correction. It's nice to see actual specs on the original battery type. Basically, anything off the shelf that is the same size, or even smaller, is a huge upgrade.

I think we got our bikes around the same time. We must of gotten the good batteries on ours. I was surprised mine lasted over two years. From what most on here reported they were lucky they got a year out of theirs.

Yes Jerry you are correct. After looking back it’s more like 2 years and 4 months. We did get them pretty close to the same time. I just thought my battery lasted so long because I got the Green Hawk and we all know they are the fastest and have the best batteries, hehe! I never really treated my battery special on this bike. No battery tender, never had to charge it, nothing. Just got lucky and got one of the good ones, like you

Same here. I just checked the fluid level every once and a while. It just quit one day but worked fine the day before. A t first I thought it was a bad connection.
