Unfortunatley, that won't work. You will need a 428 "cranked link" piece. This whole issue is my fault. I should have added to buy at least the 132 link chain, and at least one spare master link. Because if you decide to change the countershaft sprocket down in size for riding the trails, and switch to the 17 tooth for on road riding, you will have enough chain and master links to get the job done. Of course, you carry the extra chain, links, master links, and wrench with you to get the switch accomplished with the minimum of grief, agony, and despair.

I forgot how many links I cut off (from 130) to use a 17t/45t sprocket combo. I can say with certainty, it was at least 2 so the 128 will be either long enough or too long. I would guess I cut 4 or 6 off (didn't use a 1/2 link so I know it wasn't an odd number).

does anyone know of a brand of circlip master link that will work with the stock chain? I want to experiment with smaller rear sprockets, and until I decided on final gearing, I won't be putting on a new chain. I'd like to make the stock chain work during sprocket testing.

Does anyone know how small on the back you can go with the stock length chain? yes I know I'll have to move the rear wheel rearward to get chain tension back.

FWIW, a 47 vs a 50 rear should reduce revs by about 460 RPMs at 60 MPH...

The 128 link chain I listed on the previous page works just fine with a 47 tooth and would probably accommodate the 45 without a problem. I'll look tonight to see how much more adjustment is left.

Unibear 128 doesn't fit my 17 front 47 rear sprocket on my 2018 TT250.
