What did you use to cover your spokes?

All I've done so far (regarding performance) is change the chain and sprockets; here are the links:

Hope that helps.

Thanks that does.. I used spoke wraps from amazon .. they were like 10 bucks .. do you need spacers for the sprocket or does it just mount up to stock bolts

You will need spacers. I took one of my sprocket bolts to the hardware store and bought nuts that thread on the bolt. I measured the diameter of the bolt shank and bought the next drill size up. Then I drilled out the threaded part of the nut. Last step was using my belt sander from harbor freight to grind the nuts to the right height.

TT250 Mods

IIRC the current 2018 TT250s come stock with the 17 tooth front sprocket. I honestly didn't count mine when I replaced the shifter but I am pretty sure that it is a 17T. (I bought my TT250 in Late June 2018 and picked it up at CSC.)

I would suggest that you purchase a 47T rear directly from CSC as then it will come with the longer bolts and correct spacers for the JT Sprocket rears. I priced bolts and spacers at the hardware store and the CSC including spacers and bolts is only about $10 more (choose USPS delivery and that's only about $8 instead of the $17 for UPS). I then purchased an additional rear 45 tooth and so far that is the only one I've used:

The shifter is a hassle to get on with the sprocker cover but by messing with it I got it in place. If you try it you'll know what I mean:

Although this thread is almost 2 years old nearly all of 2LZs mods are still applicable, and this is like a gold mine. If you haven't explored these topics much so far you can't go wrong by checking out the members 2LZ and the Hawk specific but mostly useful for TT250s also Megadan. Both have lists of their mods and while Dan is a Hawk specialist if you look at the bikes they are durn near identical except ours are street legal in 50 states out of the box.

As far as carbs go it appears that though it claims to be a "real" Mikuni even the Amazon VM26 is a clone. Not a deal stopper but make sure you know which pilot jets you need. The clones, as Dan pointed out to me, use a VM28 style pilot jet that has a longer skinny tube on it. If you check out my thread here you'll see I originally bought the wrong (real VM26 style) pilots.

The carb seems to come available from time to time on Amazon, and currently shows unavailable. Mine was under $40.:

Spend some time looking around, there is a wealth of good information. And don't just limit it to TT250s, nearly all the Hawk mods apply to the TT250 also, but be warned the rear hubs are a bit different.

BTW I am still dialing in my carb but it seems close and when I get it done, probably later this week, I'll make a full post with my jetting mistakes and corrections laid out.

Thanks for the help.. so far just still running her stock other then cosmetic stuff spoke wraps hand guards and I ordered grips .. got 300 miles are her so far did one oil change at 40 miles and I'm gonna do my valve adjustment at 500 miles . From what I've read the intake and exaust are suppose to both be set to 0.007 on the feeler Guage correct?

I believe there is a good valve adjustment tutorial and YouTube video somewhere here, look around and use the search option. One thing I didn't do was remove the tank, you don't have to do that and it's a hassle. There is also a good tutorial on the CSC website.

I followed 2LZ's suggestion and set my exhaust to .08mm and the intake to .05mm. Note that these are millimeter feeler gauges and not inches. I had to buy one on Amazon as none of my automotive feeler gauges were thin enough, and all my bikes for a long time had been two strokes.

Another short cut is to just use the rear wheel to turn the engine to TDC on the firing stroke. Remove the inspection hole plug and when both valves are closed and you have the T in sight you are good to adjust both.

Here is a good thread to start with.
