Not sure what happened with CS Addict's reg. but I was told that the DMV employee that granted it to him will be 'disciplined' as there is NO ZONGHEN or affiliate in CT's DMV list of approved manufacturers. He got lucky - myself and Ghaniba were forced to go the inspection route. Ghaniba now does have his registration as he was able to get up to DMV with a trailer.

Sadly yes - they did demand my sales tax even though I was unable to be granted a registration. No fee for inspection, just for registration/titling when it does finally happen.

Not only that but once it's finally registered, I'm looking forward to the review! We don't have "real writers" here all the time, just a bunch of keyboard commandos like me! ;-)

Thumbs Up

All of this nonsense was the Auto Lobbiests in CT. They bucked the system up by claiming that Tesla had an unfair advantage by selling cars without a license. Someone obviously got handed some cash and now every manufacturer that sells any vehicles in CT to be registered must have a license to do so. The importer license to do so in CT is $2300 for 2 years. CSC isn't a big enough company to pay this, and there is certainly not enough overhead on bikes to cover it simply for how many will be sold in CT...

With that said, yes, it's super annoying. There is an inspection station in the center of CT (Wethersfield) and one down toward NY -- Lucky for me, I live in Northeast CT... Really not any way to be further away! I towed mine down there for the courtesy vin inspection, took about 35 mins there, cost me nothing to get the inspection done.

Next day, I went to my local DMV and got tins with this new paper in hand. Done and done. It's not any big deal - DSchick just got burned because of vacation time usage, etc.

DS-chic - I still offer to help!

Thank you Dave - just waiting on word from my contact at DMV to verify what you stated above before my next step in the process. Bike still sits in the garage. We have a HUGE event this weekend in the Berkshires - 41 NDR members attending - so the bike will sit more while my XT leads the masses through the Berkshires.

Dualsport... I know what you mean. When your being pulled in multiple directions at once, it's hard to do all things correctly.

We do want you to persevere and become an RX 3' er.

Thank you Black Bike. Started the RX3 tonight and took it for a couple laps around the yard to keep the battery charged - up into my pasture - over a few rocks and down a few embankments and then parked it back in the garage. Still no foreseeable time window to take it up to DMV for inspection.

Some states sure are diffrent. In alabama you have 20 days to get a tag. you can drive it without one for 10 days after you buy it, just have the bill of sale and proof of insurance. I DROVE mine to the DMV and was done in 10 min.

Must be nice. I can't tell you how many times I've had to tow vehicles of all sorts... The irony, it's still better than it used to be -- We used to have full inspections... I remember waiting in that line, and a couple take too long -- and it's closing time, so anyone in the line -- too bad for you, come back tomorrow. Oh wait, they're closed tomorrow. and the next day. See ya next week.

I don't miss those days.

I'm in Mississippi. Took 20 min at the tag office. They had to call the state and do some form of "VIN override" and I had to pay a butt load of sales tax. But I got my tag.

Thanks for bringing this back up BB. I do hope DSC is doing well and she's got her inspection done.

Both my brother and I had to get ours inspected here in CA because they were bought out-of-state and were not "in the system", as they say. The process was simple enough and pretty quick. The best part was when I walked in the first time and paid all the fees, they gave me a temp so I could ride the bike in to get it inspected. No trailer or truck needed.
