gio 200cc beast cl special

a friend of mine snagged a beast off of craigslist for $400.00
brings it to me to get going

been going over it slowly

needs headlight assy
front chain cover
new front shocks
new rear shock
fix start button
drill out exhaust manifold bolts (done today helicoils installed)

will need new bigger carb
uni-filter

yes the engine is a bit off but that was so that i could drill out the old bolts and install the helicoils .

hard to see the coils but they are in there

got his new battery installed...well ....in the hole anyway

last owner had a bit of a spill and this was the result..... so i drilled some holes for

FRANKIN STICHIN!!!!!!!

will pick up the new studs, lockwashers and nuts tomorrow and re-install engine as well as figure out why start switch isn't working.

Do either of the brake switches activate the brake light?

no but we did get it to fire up after a good carb cleaning and float adjustment (2 times) but now needs to be played with to get it to idle.

need to check the brake switches to see if they even work as well as brake light.

I gotta say, you've got that franken stitching down to a science, it actually makes the quad look better!

I recommend that you give up on that carb and go straight to a Mikuni.

oh i know but he doesn't have the extra $$ right now so work with what we have

well got the chain shortened and on the atv and then with the trusty screwdriver started it and hopped on and took it for a boot. omg! this little machine hauls hard ( 8 inch tires make a difference) 1/4 of the way up the driveway and I am already in 3rd!

my friend is going to have fun learning how to operate a 4 speed on this one lol ...I will restrict him to our driveway till he is happy on it.

now just have to fix the start problem, idle and should be good to go.

ignition replaced ...works great! got it to idle finally but seems to be a leak somewhere as when you hit the throttle it revs up way beyond normal and takes it's time for the revs to come back down to idle.....checked it out wile running with carb clean to see if i could find a leak and nothing.....will be taking the intake off today and see if the seal is the problem.

well what i found was a paper gasket on the head that wasn't positioned properly and was overlapping the area . does it need the paper gasket?

the plastic spacer between the carb and the intake is a great match so that is still a go

and i am going to replace both the o-rings as the one that goes between the intake and the head has a squashed spot.

so might as well replace the one on the carb as well while i have it all apart.

Replacing the o-rings is a good idea, especially if the new ones are fatter. No, I don't think you need the paper gasket, and I doubt that it's helping.

replaced both o-rings and still the same high revving after hitting the throttle.
