Glad to hear that all went well and enjoy the drugs as long as they allow you to have them. Don't smile too much when you go in for a follow-up or they'll pull them sooner!

Thanks, guys. Today has been a pretty good day, pain wise. Busy, too. Even though I am technically on vacation, I'm still the Technical Support Supervisor and spent a few hours on the phone with customers and coworkers. My boss even called from where he is working this week to see how I am doing and he's never done that before.

Weld, I grew up in Trevor. I know exactly where that's at but when I lived there, that area was a cornfield.

My view after we got home from the surgery yesterday.

At least when I wasn't asleep.

New wheels arrived today.

It's a Drive DV8 knee scooter and, in true Chinabike fashion, it needed to be taken apart and fixed first. Assembly out of the box consists of just inserting the seat and attaching the handle bars and in it's base position, it's a perfect fit. But the headset was SOOOO tight it couldn't be steered. On top of that, the headset nuts were installed with Loctite 262. At least that's what it smelled like. Took some heat to get things loosened up and removed. It looked like the bearings were just waved over the can of grease before they were installed, too. Lemme tell ya, fixing that stuff is no easy task while on crutches. But everything is now working to Cheesy standards and the little thing is a blast. A strongly worded WTF letter will be fired off to Drive this evening.

I had to check out a youtube video to see how that knee scooter gizmo works, neat! Looks a lot more convenient/ comfortable than crutches! Hoping for a speedy recovery for you.

Awesome that your boss is showing a genuine concern. My new boss is a quality guy like that, whereas the last one, well...

Isn't it weird to see a neighbourhood that was a field when you were a kid? It's like that all over the area where I was raised (I haven't grown up yet).

To be fair, your standards are much higher than the average knee walker user. Most folks wouldn't even know there are bearings in there, let alone that they should have grease on them. Isn't every China bearing simply waved over a can of grease?

Are you gonna resist the temptation to motorize that thing? That would be a struggle for me.

You're not the first ask about motorizing the little beast, Weld, and it just so happens that I have a 38cc 2 stroke leaf blower engine in the garage. However, as I'm pretty sure Mrs. C would never allow such a contraption in the house, I'll wait until I'm healed up before I consider such a venture.

Methinks it would be quicker than a Solex.

You might have something there, Weld. The spare CX starter motor, a 12v lithium-ion battery, a potentiometer, and friction drive on a rear wheel. The soap box derby steering would just make it more interesting.

God bless you Cheesy. I am glad that things are trending towards improvement, and that your doctor generously prescribed some occupational therapy, in the form of repairing the knee scooter. Nobody wants to use a mobility device, but in the grand scheme of things, those new scooters are pretty good invention. Much easier, smoother, and safer than being on crutches. No comparison. God willing, we will get you back on a bicycle and motorcycle sooner rather than later
