Who makes my motor?
Ok guys,
Is there any way to tell who actually built the motor for my TSM(Shineray). It's identical to the Lifans, but does Zongshen make motors for Shineray, or am I way out in left field?

I was very confused with my Jetmoto/Alpine. I thought that since the engine was named a 163 FML-2, it was made by Lifan; however, according to their parts guy, Dmitri, the engines are Zongshen sourced, and proven by the engine number engraved as a ZS ######.
Shineray seems to be the factory that either builds Jetmoto (and Roketa for that matter) as an OEM, or allows these OEMs to utilize excess manufacturing space, or Shineray is actually manufactured by Zongshen as an OEM, I would lean towards the Zongshen answer. Look around the engine and see if it was engraved (I think by hand) and it is probably labled as a ZS #### somwhere visible.

From what Ive noticed, Lifan, or Lifan motors with somebodies elses name on, all have a oval chrome plate in the middle of the generator cover. This works for the 250 (223cc) bikes as well.

The only problem is that the 163 FML engine seems to be made by both Lifan and Zongshen, and possibly by a few other manufacturers.

The good thing is the parts should be interchangable.

it looks like whoever builds up the engine puts their own badge on it , i had a mate who used to sell computers he bought them job lot from a company took thier labels off and put his own on then sold them for a profit decent after care too the original company used to prioritise his computers if they needed any work because he was such a good customer lol he used to just tell people if there was a problem he' d pick it up then deliver it back when it was sorted. maybe thats how it works in china

Puddlehopper, would you be from the North East (of England)? There's a guy in Gateshead been selling Chinese bikes for ages, he has them re-badged TEC. They're Lifans.

My engine has LC163FMLDD198146, the brand name is Tank and I think I read somewhere the manufacturer of the engine is Zongshen, but I don't know that for sure.
