I bought an Enfield

Lord help me I could not stand it. I had an empty space in my garage, and with a lot of extra money due to my job change/promotion I was going to have a stroke if I didn't take action and fast.

You all know I have had a thing for Royal Enfields for years, and with the quality and performance (relative terms) of the new models, now is the time to get one, especially with the price reductions from the supplier.

I bought a 2011 Bullet Classic Chrome, brand new and with a 2 year warranty. I'll pick it up next week. Not included in this pic is the really cool matching leather passenger seat and rack.

Also scroll through these high res pics, mine is the red one.

Thanks to all you enablers. LOL!

This bike should suit me well. It is undeniably very very beautiful, it's interesting (a major criteria for me), and it's performance will work well for commuting and local pleasure rides. I am blessed with the Wing for long distances and high speeds and passengers. I have the Ducati for extreme performace and beauty. I am very well set.

Great choice of motos Doc, I'd have to say the C5 Chrome is the most beautiful Royal Enfield sold today.

It was a bit of a tough choice between this bike and the Continental GT. I very very much love the look of the Continental, but what I was looking for was a simple comfortable easy bike to ride around town. The increased performance of the Continental would be nice, but with the Ducati, I have no need for a high-performance "antique" and I thought that the increased comfort of the classic would be beneficial.

Also I figured that the price of the GT starts at $1,100 more than I paid for my bike, and then I would have to pay all the extra markups, registration fees, dealer prep, destination charges… Etc.

Plus, no room for the obligatory pretty girl on the back of the Continental GT LOL

Congratulations! We eagerly await more photographs after the bike arrives in its new home.

I plan to get it next Saturday. Have Monte fly me up and ride it home or go get it with truck and trailer. I am very excited to share the experience with you all.

it ll be interesting to hear your experience.

i ve been interested in those bikes since the early 80s, their sound is oh so sweet! quality control was an issue until about 10 years ago. now is a good time to get one, because they ve gotten their act together!

FD,
Just saw your PM, sorry that I didn't respond sooner but my RE experience is very limited. Hope to change that soon.
Great bike. I have been lurking on http://www.enfieldmotorcycles.com/forum/ for years so I expect to see more of you there.
Will you be posting your RE experiences here or on the RE forum? I would like to follow your thread since I value you knowledge.

My two favorites

I really like the guys on the Enfield forum they seem to be friendly happy and helpful but his is my 'home' forum. Ill probably participate in both places. I like the ones you have chosen. I see they both have the preferred later series forks (without the leading axle) and therefore the 18" front wheel. Nice bikes. The looks, feel, and sound of these bikes is incredible.

I'm looking forward to seeing your bike in real life. I agree with Zingshoen that this is a great time to buy a RE, because they're sorted out and because they're about to become very popular. We all know the price will go up after that.

I'm so excited I'm getting chest pain.

I agree that this is probably the low point in prices for RE.

India I believe is one of the largest manufactuers in the world and the fastest growing. RE is the premier motorcycle producer in India.

They have all the new technology and infrastructure to produce excellent new 'antique' motorcycles with a gen-u-ine British history. There is a high demand for this genre at present.

They are also working on a Twin, and that will change everything.

Great news, Doc! My X-Vic dealer brought on the Enfield line a couple years ago and had some on the floor......just to have it backfire on him. The RE rep said they were legal to sell here in CA at the time....and they weren't. Not sure what happened with his stock.
