PepBoys

Did anyone notice the 250cc dirt and street cruisers for PepBoys in Sundays paper? I went down to the local and saw the dirt bike. Not bad looking although the engine looked......well almost plastic in appearance. The street bike wasnt there of course. I didnt know how to post pictures on here so I put them on my little webpage if anyone missed it. http://members.cox.net/cliftsvideos/bike/

Hi Clift
Ya know PepBoys will sell anything to make a buck, even a bike with Dual A-arms! I can't believe they rip ya off $70.00 to put the bikes together, when they don't even know how! You should have seen the Panterra bikes/quads they used to sell that where wholesaled by Nikota'a insurance company a few years ago. I don't think any where assembled correctly. Hey I like your little Police car chasing the bike at the bottom!!! 8O

I saw the Street Cruizer in Pep boys this week, It didn't look too bad.
The Dirt bike I saw, had Suzuki stamped on the side of the engine.

A big local auction company buys all of pepboys' returned cr ap and resells them at their auctions. Most of them don't run and then they go to the local shops looking for parts and help and no one can or wants to help them with their junk. Maybe get a few rides out of them and then SOL.

the little 250 cruiser I saw at my local Pep Boys was a Vision, which leads me to believe that are made by Tank (or whoever makes Tank)

Pep Boys seemed to be the most quoted thing on Thumpertalk about 2 years ago as to why Chinese bikes should be avoided at all costs. For some reason, they keep selling them; but hey, I no longer go to Thumpertalk, so I really could care less what some imbecile who purchased a 1984 Honda XR200 for $2000 not running has to say about my Chinese bike...

The pepboys bikes are the low-end china products so I guess they do have a point there.

I too don't go to TT anymore. Couldn't take the bashing of my xt200 so I didn't want to mention I bought a china bike.

cliftstuff,
I like your web site, I really like the bikes you have on there and grandson is a little cuttie.

I'm not sure who supplies pep boys but I do know they have to parts or service on them. I would strongly suggest never buying from them. You will have nothing but trouble.

Thanks. Im going to put up more pics and maybe some video when I get a chance. Got my new rear sprocket (36) in from Bruce over at Endless Journey Cycles. Big difference in top end, now it doesnt sound like maxed out at 40mph. I still never saw a street model at pep boys by my house only dirt models available. Engines look almost plastic.

Here in Kalifornia, Pepboys only sells the dirt models and scooters. No steets or DS's here either. Big Jap 4 conspiracy rears its ugly head as mentioned by Culcune.

pepboys ???

what a joke.this is why i'm a dealer today.after buying a mini bike from them.4 + years ago.you could not then or now get parts from them.or the companies that sell them to pepboys.they change companies and bikes so often.

only good thing about them is we make money on parts and service.

In the 70's a friend had a Harley Sprint and he let me drive it with him on back. We took a spin down an unopened Rd. and he told me to open it up. I was timid and stopped at 70mph. He was ticked and demanded that i really open it up. Right at about 83mph the cop(that was following us) turned on his siren. He got busted, his bike, me no license and unopened road to boot.

As you say on your webpage, the Harley had lots of grunt! Wonderful sound.
