Doh! Hello from Canada

Hello my friends my name is edward. A lil about myself i am 31 years old and i am from Ontario Canada. I have owned a few differant off shore brand bikes and looking forward to connecting with other riders of the same bikes and see what they have done to get all they can get out of these bikes. I currently own a 250cc apollo pro x and really like it. I know a lil about these bikes and can clean and take apart the carbs with my eyes closed but one thing i can not figure out is if i need gear oil or not. Please dont roast me for my ignorance but i need help. I have googled and youtubed but can not find a solid awnser. Thank you in advance for any help.

Yes or NO.
http://chinariders.net/showthread.ph...760#post308760 Gear box shares the SAME motor oil, so u need the proper stuff... Gear oil is the traditional chain lubricant in Honda shop manual, we won't use that messy thingy for that job normally.

It's powered by a Hondaish 4 stroke machine. Ref to similar Honda shop manual if still unsure.

Welcome friend from the land of the maple leaf!

As humanbeing stated, like most modern motorcycles the engine and transmission use the same oil for both engine and transmission duty. Only really old bikes, or new bikes with really old technology ( cough Harley) will run with separate oil for the engine, primary, and transmission. The only thing you have to make sure you use is a wet clutch rated engine oil - JASO MA1 or MA2 standards. Usually located on the certifications/ratings on the back of the bottle along with API and other such alphabet soup.

Welcome!!! Several of the fellows that post have knowledge that would take me a lifetime to acquire. I am not an expert on these bikes, but have acquired a bms250 and will post to contribute what I know. anyways welcome!!!!
