Ignition switch problems

So i thought i had a bad battery after playing with it for a little bit i believe its the ignition switch if i jiggle the key it will come on fine anybody have similar issues and know where i can grab a replacement or fix the one i got

Hey Tarote... I would keep the money in my pocket and fix the switch.. probably no more than a wire.... I had an ignition switch problem awhile back and fixed it... instead of buying more parts...

First steps for troubleshooting would be appreciated electrical is in the lower end of my skills. I only have basic knowledge.

Why not tell us what bike you have then ? There are probably hundreds of Chinese bike models in circulation ,hard to help without knowing that .

I agree that trying to fix the current switch is worth a try, but at the same time, $35 for a complete lock set isn't that bad of a deal.

I would say a little bit of compromise is in order though. Poke around a bit, check the wiring at the switch and just look for anything obvious like a broken or loose wire or bad pin at the connector. Put the key in and turn it to the run position and maybe wiggle the wiring around instead of the key, see if it comes on. etc.

I only suggest this because it would be a shame to spend $35 and wait 2-3 weeks for parts when it could have been something simple. Plus, if you buy said lock set and it ends up being something else, it would be a waste of money and you will still have to figure out what the actual issue is... Unless you are like me and don't mind having extra parts sitting around just in case.
