The top lid? doesn't need a gasket as filter is the seal

Look again at the lid - why have a gasket?
the filter it self is the seal etc

The bottom portion is in two pieces too. Dust gets sucked right through. I probably could of put silicon to seal it off.

Except the filter seals to a section that bolts to another lower section, and that is not sealed.

Oh ok, I thought there was a channel that looked like it housed a rubber seal.

My air filter lid came with a rubber gasket, it is just a round rubber strip cut to length and partially fell out as I took the lid off. I had to stretch it as I placed it back into the slot around the outer edge of the lid to make the ends meet.
