Anyway, here's a pic.

Top to bottom: CDI, Hall Effect Sensor, Magnet.

Where does the sensor and magnet mount on the CX engine?

Under the chrome cover on the back of the engine. Replaces the advancers. I may, or may not, need to drop the engine. That depends on whether or not I can get my paws in there.

Would be a real advantage to have little tiny hands for that job, even with the carbs out of the way. Sure will be nice to have a reliable ignition system.

Hopefully this will be a 'once and for all' repair.

Inky Tim and I are looking into doing this WITHOUT dropping the engine next week. He has smaller hands than I do so maybe we'll lick this thing.

Finally got to spend some time on this today. The CX has sat like this for the last month.

It's looking like this will be doable without dropping the engine. I've already managed to remove the rotor and pulsers and install the new rotor. Would have gotten the Hall Effect in but ended up chasing the threads in the shaft and that took awhile. No thread damage, just a bunch of old loctite gumming up the works.

Where the Hall Effect goes. That's the old rotor and pulsers.

Out and on the ground. These will be winging to Finland soon.

Being replaced by these.

If things go as smoothly as today did, I hope to wrap this up soon.(yeah, right)

I'm embarrassed to tell you how long several of my bikes have been dismantled. 2017 will be the year.

Bike crapped out in August at the shop, where it sits.
Took six weeks to get the Rae-San unit.
Got the medical release and can count the days I've been in the shop on one hand since it happened.
Some how managed a week of vacation, a week of work, a week of vacation, a week of work, and a week of vacation. Next week is that third week. And I still have three days booked in December.

Did I ever mention the 17 year remodel of a bathroom?

Well, I called it. On an airplane tomorrow to Florida to fix piece of rental equipment a customer broke.

I did get the Hall Effect in today and got it static timed. I got at least that far. There's two, maybe three hours work left to do and it may not get done now until January.

I can think of worse places to be in November.
