I swapped the jet out this morning before work.
So now it's 42.5 and 140 Not sure when we will get out for a ride next to see if it's good I'll keep you posted Dave |

I'm interested in the outcome. 140 strikes me as quite large for a 225.

or large pilot & small main... The pilot jet dosn't stop feeding fuel just because the main jet starts to work it feeds fuel though the whole rev range.. It's the combined size of both jets at higher RPMs.... cold climate... large pilot/small main , easyer starting / warm up.. Hot climate.... small pilot/large main... Or anywhere in between... my bikes prob a little bit rich on the bottom end.. the US TTR250 & my NZ one have diffrent jet combinations.. .

Long time no post..
Inbetween renos and side projects. I finally moved my bikes to my new place. Today I FINALLY got to doing the petcock Not many pics. I was slacking on the documentation lol Drained the gas I was quite surprised how much fuel this bike holds almost filled that jerry can and the tank wasent even full all the way Removed the stock petcock. And spotted a difference right away The knob on the original one also wouldn't go onto the new one. So. I opened them up Insides were identical and looks like the original one was missing an o ring I put the gaskets and o ring out of the new one into the old one. Put it all back together and onto the bike. No leaks and seems to be working as it should. And fuel amount for "on" and "res" stayed the same Plus I got to keep the knob Dave |

Hey Dave, thanks for checking in!
The on and res tubes were backwards in your replacement, just like mine. Whomever is assembling them has no idea. Good call on just replacing the parts, rather than the entire valve. I'm sure the Yamaha valve is a higher quality casting.

I finally ordered the oil filters I posted about ages ago
I ordered 2 of them. Prepping for next oil change. I'll do the filter at same time http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...d=131074527625 I also ordered a uni filter. Always wanted a spare too and theses are supposed to flow more. We will see if there's a difference. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...d=111433959489 I'm also thinking I might plug the hole someone's drilled in the airbox lid and see what that's like I've posted the photo before but here it is again I think I'll plug it. Try it and if it seems restricted at all I'll remove the snorkel and see what that's like. I've read its a common mod on these bikes. Dave |

I haven't modded the air box on my TW, but I've considered removing the snorkel.

You'll like the Uni. Probably hate the maintenance of it(I do), but you'll like the filter.

Also the jetting issue was never 100% cured still a little on the lean side.
Ive ordered 2 more jets to try... 145 main and a 150 main We will wait and see what happens. Seems rather large. But who knows Dave |

Like Pete says, it depends on the slow jet size. I'll be interested to find out if a jet as large as 145 is needed.

I hate to say it, but the problem might be electrical. Are you having any troubling starting the bike?
