On the camera. I need to get some more of the progress. Looks like all the stock V6 accessories will bolt over. The water pump on the V8 has a heater hose port that the V6 does not have. I will need to extend the strut brace for the tensioner pulley to fit the V8. The V6 had a smog pump. It will just be another idler now.

We removed the V6 engine mounts and will need to bolt up the V8 mounts so that we can go ahead and put the engine in. Also need to get a clutch tool so that we can get the clutch in place.

Only other item I see that we may need to make is the bracket for the clutch pivot.

Dad is picking up a clutch tool today and we should be about ready to insert the engine then. All the V6 accessories are installed. Dad made a new idler strut brace from two of them. Welding and grinding to the rescue.

If the weather is nice tonight we may be able to try to get the engine in again. Hoping to have it running by the end of the week.

I will take the camera out on tomorrow. Dad has been taking some. I think he is making one for the alternator too.

The engine is in. Dad is reworking the clutch linkage to fit around the exhaust. I have most of the wiring and vacuum lines reattached. Some of the wiring needs to be extended and I need to swap the connections for the TPS.

Dad bought new exhaust flange gaskets last night and ordered a power steering line and a serpentine belt.

Is that a vacuum ball under the hood?

I believe it is a vacuum ball. Not connected to anything. Yesterday I connected a few wires and fired it up. We drove it out of the shop late yesterday afternoon. 350 with a straight pipe sounds pretty good.

The ever-reliable 350. Just got done dropping one into a '76 Chevy C10 of a young buddy of mine. He learned a lot. That's the main thing.
Good luck with that project!

No smoke. No noises. Well just nice exhaust noises. It ran well in the van I pulled it from. Fresh oil. Lots of power with the four speed and light body.

Sold the old smoking 4.3l yesterday. $50 better than scrap price. Guy needed something to mock up a turbo setup on. I gained floor space. Next it is time to sell off some of the other pieces.

Used the van to pick up a kayak. Put about 100 miles on it since the engine went in. No problems. Lots of power. Need to get a muffler.

I'd be curious to see what the guy is going to power with a 4.3 turbo.

Glad to hear the swap went well.

I didn't ask. He had a nice corvette and a 60s chevy that I saw. We had a van load of kids on our way to home depot for playset lumber.
