Top Bag Installation
If I am going to have a runabout town motorcycle to go get things and bring them home again I am going to need a bag. I don't fancy wearing a backpack every single time I want to go out.
So enter the 15" Voyager Folding Toolbag This is a consumable item that will be replaced so no need for rocket science anymore. Punched holes and zip ties it is. After zipping the bag to the carry frame, top down view. Now to pick out some bungee cords to always be inside the bag in case they are needed on an item pickup at some remote location. I originally had a red strap outside but that was too racy and knowing how I love the new street oriented gearing on my 6 speed Templar X 250 I don't want any speeding tickets . So Blue it is, though I threw in 3 yellows in case I bring anything back they will be highly visible contrasted agains the black of the carry bag. And installed, and all zipped up and ready to zoom down the road. It is freeing not having to backpack it on the bike. Eat your heart out BMW and Ducati expensive panniers. $8.95 from Harbor Freight! Once I find a nicer looking small belt or black nylon belt I will remove the blue outside bungee and toss it in the bag as well.

Maybe its the bark busters, I have yet to install my hand guards, maybe that will finally do it to me. I actually have a rather steep hill/delcine that takes me from my estate down to the main highway road in about a two minute drive from the estate, but it is speed checked and patrolled. I have not taken that road down and back uphill again to compare. I am on relatively flat ground with small undulations for variety up here--up north it flattens out into proper rural and farm land with some additional undulations. EDIT: And no rim locks or wheel wobble up through and above 50. Again this is a fuel economy, town runabout bike which is my reasoning behind the setup.

You already ran the engine, right? I see no evident of exhaust gases coming up in there. But it might just be not enough time elapsed for any blackening. That exposed area may not be pressurized. What I am saying is that though not normal, it may be inconsequential. It might be a blind recess.
But if that area connects with the exhaust port, you need a new engine. Normally, I would not run the engine with that cap off. Question for anyone... if that defect connects to the exhaust port, you could hear it plainly if you start it with that cap off, right? |

Yes very few miles (or kilometers) 60-70 and runs okay but still needed tuning.
i adjusted valves (loosened to .004) and then put them back where they were (>00.2) that was when i noticed. yes i think it is lightly pressured ...it shoots oil directly up! I did not notice exhaust gases ...but i was not looking for it. thanks

I took a look today at installing the hand guards I got from Amazon on the Templar X 250. The throttle grip was the easiest to get off to inspect the bar ends. On my bike it looks like the bar ends are not fully opened and will need to be drilled out to allow the expansion screw lock to be inserted into the ends of the bars. I didn't bother inspecting the clutch side bar ends, that grip is on tight and I would need to try using the air compressor technique to see if I can get it off easier for inspection.
I used the mounting pieces that clamp to the handlebars and test fit one on the clutch side. It seems to fit although not a perfect angle. I could either finish the angle by twisting the soft metal myself on the hand guards to match the angle of the clamp on the handlebar or tension the clamps differently at each screw point. It looks to me under low light levels that the handlebars also have a flare in them and change slightly in outer diameter the closer it gets down to the risers where they are clamped to the triple T. I'll have to have a closer look at it in the sunlight. So I will likely be able to install the hand guards but with some drilling required to get the holes large enough for the expansion locks to be inserted. The kit appears to have a small expansion piece inserted into a larger outer shell. This seems to be how they achieve a one size fits all. But the holes in my handlebar ends are smaller than the inner expansion piece.

I have to do all mine by hand on the computer before hand. If there was an easier way, I missed it too

The air compressor method for removing grips damage free. Old stuck on grips may need the initial bit of rubber lifted with a screwdriver to allow air to sneak inside.
