It's interesting how much fun scooters are when you don't know your actual speed. Are you certain that the bicycle speedo is correct? Instead of using that, can you have somebody pace you with a car on a lonley road?

With my buddy's 49cc scoot, I was able to pass cars in a 35mph zone, and I doubt that anybody there was restrained enough to drive at 35. It can be done with a little tweaking.

Once you've hit the limit with the existing cylinder, you can then upgrade for even more speed. All this stuff can be had for cheap on eBay.

If the scoot I worked on is any indication, the muffler, air filter and rejet were the biggest gains. Didn't port or polish, and not sure if the performance CDI did anything.

Likely the reason you're hearing those comments is because some people just hack off the muffler and install an aftermarket piece with no other changes. If you increase the airflow without compensating with extra fuel, you'll get a lean mixture that pops and farts and runs poorly.

I take the time to experiment with larger slow and main jets to complement the extra airflow. How can there not be a gain when you properly remove a restriction? Seriously, the factory airbox and muffler were laughable.

I've heard good things about that "orange CDI" from Scrappy.....

I'm afraid to look and see what their jets cost though, seeing as they want $3.95 for a common lousy 1157 lightbulb!!

They want $3.95 for a main jet, which is totally fair. It's shipping to Canada that's outrageous.

Yeah...$3.95 t'aint bad at all. I'd hate to see what the local motorcicle shop would want.

Makes ya wonder why shipping such light small parts to Canookistan would be so expensive......

I like it too! That's almost the same silver-b lue my 1978 Fiat 131 was. Very 70's!
