Ain't that the truth? Of course, getting all the bags and bars helps make the RX3 even that much better of a deal but some of us don't use them. I stripped both of our bikes and just put a larger trunk on it for beer runs.

Winter ride
Took a midweek day off yesterday as the sun was shining and the weather balmy, about 12 degrees.
First picture is at the end of Herbertville beach and the others at Porangahau beach where there is an excellent free camping spot which has lots of shelter, flushing toilets and drinkable water. Definitely going back there in summer. |

Growing up or growing old ?
Alot had been happening but not able to record the moments..... have been taking it to some of the shittiest offroads... and bike is going strong .. the crash gaurds are like blessing....
this 19th leaving for Killer mountain (nanga parbat) rupal face, batoka Top, minimerg, kargil... wish me luck.. I hope I would take snaps this time... most of the time I am shitting bricks due to extreme trekking and forget totally to take some snaps... on the other hand....Rx3 is flooding in all over Pakistan and a lot of young riders are opting for it... as it is proving its metal...

I just installed a combination Voltmeter and Dual Port USB Quick Charge 3.0 adapter in place of a failed 12V outlet. The 12V lost its ground connection internally and since it is hermetically sealed, there was no way for me to repair the thing. I had to enlarge the stock port opening from 27 mm to 30 mm with a unibit drill bit to fit the adapter. I also used a second lock ring directly under the face of the adapter to raise it up about 5 mm, since I did not like the way that it sat on the face of the adapter housing that attaches to the instrument cluster. For the electrical connection, I just cut the plug off of the old 12V port and soldered it onto the USB's wiring harness. The USB ports charge a lot faster than the RX3's stock accessory USB port. It now takes about an hour to charge a dead cellphone, whereas the stock port takes around 3 hours or more. It is also nice to be able to monitor voltage at a glance, to detect any charging issues. For those interested, you can see it here:

20,000 crossed
So finally back from hefty long trip... was accompanied with dirt bikes and trails had a blast of fun....
Rx3 was nicknamed "the tanker" as it had all the camps and jackets and most of the stuff which would fall from dirt bikes which were flying around me... went to Kargil side, minimerg, Batoka, Nanga parbat Rupal base camp... basically another long ridge of Himalayan ranges done... its been 4 years and 20k up .... baby is going good... she looks sexy , runs fast, no problem from engine or body so far... have been pushing it with dirt bikes and its getting along...

Two up
On Sunday I rode my RX3 with a passenger for the first time. Apart from having to take the pillion footrests apart because the detent spring and locating ball had rusted solid on both sides, everything went awesomely. The friend about 5"10 and me a husky 5"8 were a tight fit between the tank and the top box but not impossibly so.
I was expecting to really struggle but the bike coped very well, pulling smoothly and without any fuss. The brakes were enough and the handling still predictable and worry free. I was a little worried at the beginning that the load would be damaging but once again Zongie just soldiered through. I received a compliment or two from the passenger for the good suspension and the really clear instruments. He has a 250 Suzuki cruiser. |
