Try and keep threads on point etc maybe make a new thread for something you like or need, this thread as you can see is more about what you did on your RX3 today/recently not so much a random question about something else.

Well, I didn't do it to my RX3 but my neighbor picked it up out of the dirt.
We have a couple of the 10 x 20 Costco tents that I store some of the rolling stock in. We had it staked down and tethered. Winds got so high here on the ridge, it ripped the tent out of the ground and tossed it about 40 yards down the back hill. My neighbors called me at work to let me know and the storm had let up enough so they had it all cleaned up by the time I got home. Amazingly enough, only the one RX3 got lopped over and no damage. The rest of them just stood where they were. I can't imagine what the bikes saw when it took off.

Valve adjustment
well I finally got my 500 mile break in done. I also did my first valve adjustment/inspection, what an adventure. I looked at the tutorial and shop manual ahead of time and thought " pain in the ass, but I got all day". Started out OK, did everything as described except that I found that I could get away with just swinging the gas tank aside. The fun started when I went to check the exhaust valves and found that the ABS assembly is mounted directly over/in front of the access cover. It took some time but I was able to work around the assembly and get the job done. Is there an easy way to get that assembly out of the way for next time?

Tank alone can come off without the side panels - this will help you for other jobs too. 4 panels bolts seats and tank bolt then wiggle it out disconnect the fuel line etc. |

Oh man, not that the exhaust valves weren't challenging enough, now the ABS is mounted right there?

I sense a new market for an expensive "Relocation mounting bracket" is coming soon
I call dibs! Anyone making it before me owes me royalties

Exactly! The wonderful ignorance of youth and an endless summer day putting up hay... I will say this - life was a damn site simpler. Men were men and we took care of our troubles without a bunch of pansy assed political correctness bs. Mini bikes with Briggs and Stratton engines ruled the day and if you were lucky you graduated to a Honda XR75! Fun times all around.

Valve adjustment
I wish I took a picture, but there were at least 4 brake lines going into that thing and it looked pretty solid in there right above the exhaust valve cover. I was able to still get the adjustment done ( the exhaust valves were pretty tight ) using a long skinny screwdriver and an 8mm wrench, but I could barely swing the wrench to loosen or tighten the screw. Maybe CSC will update their tutorials to reflect the ABS unit now in place and show an easy way to get to the valve adjustment that I may have missed.
