Back in the Andes, this time I made my way to Ayacucho, a beautiful city with 33 colonial churches http://www.visitperu.com/ayacucho.htm There are also several museums and Wari ruins in the area, I could spend weeks here, I love this place. The roads are OK, I carried an extra gallon of gas and needed it, with the exception of very high altitudes, the Mavila has been running well. Hopefully, I'll head down to Nazca next week then out to Chauchilla, I could not make it out there on the Versys, should be able to do it on the Mavila.

This is really impressive, Luciano from Colombia is traveling through South America on a 125 Zuma. He made it through the Cañón del Pato (Duck's Gorge), a road between Moro and Caraz. It's a wicked road, very dangerous, hard to believe he made it on a Zuma. These are his photos, they are low resolution, hopefully you guys can see them. Like I said I'm impressed!

Thanks for posting more beautiful photographs, OG! Is there a story behind the rooftop decorations?

How many cc's is a Zuma? Isn't it like 50? Wow! I bet it had a hard time at altitude.

Different kind of Zuma; you're thinking of the Yamaha Zuma that is a 50cc scooter. I think this one is a 125 scooter, not terribly different from Kato's.

Doc, yes a 125, Zuma, the same model in South America is known as 125 BWS, I actually own a 50cc Zuma, your right it could not be ridden at high altitude. Spud, people believe that those rooftop decorations bring them good luck, some houses have animal figures on the roof for protection. Most of these homes also have llama fetuses buried under their foundations for good luck.

I'd agree, I've read that 90% of the homes is the Andes have llama fetuses buried under their foundations, I wonder how they collect them!

Undoubtedly. :( I can't believe that many pregnant llamas spontaneously abort.
