When I had my FZ6 one thing I noticed was the center stand could "rattle" over big bumps. Perhaps adding a "Lock" to keep it up on an off road bike would be a worthy endeavor. Im thinking something as simple as a hitch pin.

This is something that all center stands will do. They are held up by a spring, and while those springs are usually very strong, even a good sharp bump will make them try to go down.

That is why I am choosing to use Clevis pins with hitch pin clips through the holes as a temporary means to install the center stand for servicing, while also allowing me to easily remove it if I so desire.

That said, if you can work out a way to get some sort of pin under the stand when it is in the up position, I bet that would definitely help at least reduce the movement.

Got it all put together today. All I need to do is update the CAD drawing with all the mounting holes and send to the fabricator. I discovered my original center stand is not long enough for the new skid plate. It still gets the tire off the ground but only about an half inch so I made the new one longer. I made one today and will pick up material tomorrow to make a few more tomorrow. The 2nd one went quick so it won't be to bad.

Very Nice! What is the price point looking like for the Skid Plate/Center Stand duo? I really like how the center stand mounting on the skid plate hangs down low enough to protect the rear brake mechanism.

My only issue with the overhang of the skid plate is on the right and left side overhang from the frame on he bottom. It's likely going to interfere with my shifter position, and definitely with my very large foot getting under the shifter. Maybe it's just the angle from the picture. I don't think I can make that work without a lot of personal customization/'cutting.

I think you could design a nice flat plate rack similar to CSC that sells for a few bucks.

There's plenty of clearance. No problem with it interfering with anything. It's just the angle took the pictures. I read what you said about the pin. What size pin? Im sure i can make it work.

Not sure on the size. I would have to see it in person to know for sure lol.

What size bolt are you using on the swing arm? My pin idea was to basically replace the bolt with a pair of clevis pins.

5/8" bolt.

Well, now that I took a closer look at the center stand design, I would need a long single clevis pin. The longest I know I can find is 6 inches, with an effective length of 5 49/64ths, which is probably too short I would imagine.

Also, my concern with the clearance and my shifter is due to my IMS Shifter sitting much further inboard than the stock one.

you shouldn't have any problems with clearance. I'll take pictures tomorrow from those angles

I know I'm a day late but was laid up with my back out. Needless to say I didn't get a thing done yesterday I did way to much Saturday. I couldn't bend over to take a shot from the side. But as you can see you will have plenty of clearance.

I have one spring on it right now but I think I'll put two, one on each side. Believe it or not that is one of the hardest things about this project is to figure out the best place to mount the springs. I'm not happy with the current location and this is something I need to work out before sending any out. I like your idea about installing a pin that an lock it in place.

I have a suggestion on the lock it up problem. A spring loaded hardened steel 3/8's pin that engages a latch plate attached to the frame would do the job. Perhaps there is a frame cross tube the bolt could use, in which case I would use a hard 1/4 inch pin with a piece of re-inforced rubber hose to protect the frame tube....ARH
