Nah, not yet anyway. Probably just a cheap digi speedo for now.

Made some more progress today.

I re-wired an atv keyed ignition to work with the TW harness, connected a battery and it turned over upon hitting the starter button. Even better, it makes spark! It's a big relief knowing that all of the electrical is in order. I used the same connector as the factory, so if I ever find a TW ignition switch, it will plug right in.

I added an electronic flasher from NAPA, and I connected the LED signals and tail light I picked up on eBay. The tail light works great, but the signals just pulse right now; I think that will change once an indicator light is added.

I have a new air box tube on order from Bikebandit, so I should be able to try and start it soon. My good friend Spud is sending his Zong tank, and I'm hoping that it will be a close match.

I learned from a TW forum that the speedometer needs to be a 2240:60 ratio, which I think means the speedometer gear is turning at 2240rpm at 60mph. I converted that ratio to metric and was pleased to find a small, cheap white faced speedometer on eBay that should do the trick: Universal Dual Odometer Speedometer The price is right.

Once it runs, I'll start buying stuff for it. I need to find something to make the fork tubes a little thicker, so my new Acerbis headlight will attach properly. I'll see if I can find some ABS or PVC pipe that will do the trick, or I'll get some stainless tube. I'm also hoping I can find a cheap super moto front fender and 428 chain at Gnarly Parts. I've found a cheap seatcover on eBay, some high bend atv bars at rockymountainatvmc, wide foot pegs on eBay and tapered steering stem bearings on eBay. I've also learned that a Yamaha blaster shock is two inches longer than stock, but it bolts in to give a higher seat height.

I can't wait to start this bike.

The TW200 wiring system uses the opposite side wiring of the turn signals for the ground wire. Therefore, if you install 4 LED turn signals, you need to solder diodes into the turn signal indicator light.

The eBay foot pegs are great; you will love them! I'm going to try to get you a shipping estimate on my Zong fuel tank tomorrow, Brother Weld.

Great work Weld, and a great assist from Spud. Great people here.

You've made a lot of progress and have really done your homework. I'm impressed!

Thanks for short-cutting that process for me, Spud. I have two diodes here that I intend to solder into the circuit, and you confirmed it for me. I had to do the same thing to my van. Will I need to solder a diode to either side of the indicator light? I was also thinking about using an incandescent light to add more load for the flasher, but I'll try an LED that I have here.

Thanks for offering to ship the tank, Spud. Don't worry about the quote; I'm sure you'll find a cost-effective method to Sumas, WA. I'm ready for the tank now, so I'm not too worried about cost.

Thanks Doc! The TW forum, like our forum, makes it very easy. I learned all I needed to know from one build thread.

My goodness; I just remembered something. My Zongshen fuel tank has a cap with a lock. This lock uses the ignition key, and I don't know how to get a spare key. :( The TW200 also employs a fuel tank with a locking cap. Does someone make a replacement fuel cap for the TW200 that doesn't use a lock? If so, perhaps the same fuel cap would fit my Zongshen fuel tank. :?:

Thanks for your response, Philamiens. You are correct, I have a lot of work to do, but I think I am in the middle of the project. I hope to have the chance to start it soon.

This would be why I was unable to connect the carb to the airbox; the original air tube shrunk by 1/2". The new air tube is much softer and easier to work with.

Hmm maybe I should buy a new one for my 78 DT175. It still connects but it is a bear to get on and off. But most likely they are No longer available.

It's well worth a look. The new tube is identical, but it's much softer and easier to work with.
