How's this for a score?

It's a 1969 or 70 Raleigh Super Course Mixte. It was stored in a barn for decades. Tires are shot as is the Brooks B67 saddle. However, the Bluemel fenders are decent, it has Weinmann rims and brakes, and Huret derailleurs. Probably Jubilee, not Allvit.

We know it's a 69 or 70 because the color, Championship Blue, was only done those two years. 1970 was the last year for that style headbadge.

I didn't buy the bike. My oldest daughter picked it up at a thrift store in Maine. She paid a whopping fifty cents for it.

The Huffster is done-ish.

Springing for new rubber next week. The tires on it are so new that they still have mold release on them, but are so old that they are dry rotted. Also have a 22T cog coming to replace the 19T on the rear because the gearing sucks for an old guy.

Found out that the front forks on my Triumph are seized solid so i am not sure if i am going to attempt to get them freed up or just put some good front forks on it. I am kind of inclined to do a proper build on it as it has been literally decades since i have messed around with mountain bikes. Last time i turned a wrench on one i was 15 and racing motocross bikes at the same time. So its kinda understandable why the mountain bikes got put aside at that point.

Got dressed to go out for a long-ish ride this morning. I saw the temp was 38F. I sat and had a couple cups of coffee. Temp was 40F. Decided then and there that this mornings ride will happen after the Pack runs over the Bears this afternoon.

Exercising my texting finger for when Old Weird Harold and my co-workers start trash texting me.

I always made that cuttoff of 40°f too... not worth the numbness

In my younger days, that would be my fifties, 5F was my cutoff.

The LTS has always been my fave suspension bike, though there are many bikes with more rear travel.

Christmas decorations are up a little early in the Business Park near my place. They were actually put up last weekend.

I’m a bike nut. Always loved my bike as a kid, that was my car until I was 16. Was lucky that I had “solid” bikes growing up, I’m from the era when a Mongoose sure as Hell didn’t come from WalMart. I still have my last childhood bike (Kuwahara), and I have all of my Sons bikes (Diamondbacks) from his younger days hanging in the shop from the ceiling. These days I have a GT Agressor MTB, and a Mongoose Title 24 BMX cruiser to keep the youthful spirit alive. Love my bikes!

Touchet, I had a nice Goose in the 1990s. It was fun keeping up with Johnny Tomac's exploits.

I brought the fifty cent Super Course from Maine to Illannoy yesterday. Only pic I have taken so far is of the serial number.

182507 confirms that the bike was built in 1970.

Do you know which site that will decode that Super Corsa SN?
Schwinn has some good sites for their SNs. For most anything else, I ask them on Ratrodbikes.

Here you go.
https://www.kurtkaminer.com/TH_raleigh_serials.html

Schwinn at least had a system. Raleigh was all over the map and didn't have a workable system until the post '73 series.
