Though I'm not living in the States at the moment, I'd say that Trump's estimation for casualty figures (minimum 1-200000) is one of the first unexaggerated, unvarnished things that he's said. Trying to play from the dictator's playbook, especially when one isn't all powerful (relatively speaking), pretending it isn't a problem until it's too late doesn't seem to work. Whoda thunk?

Our news media is just giddy over this. They have successfully scared the American public into coming to a halt. There have been worse things than this come along. We would just hear "be careful". They threw everything they had at Trump. Made up total lies. None of it true. Then this virus came along and they saw their chance. I never would have thought that people could be turned into sheep so quick. They media is now the sheepdog and the people are the sheep. The news media has gotten their wish to stop success. Some of us are not sheep. Some of us are eagles. Soring above it and living our lives as normal. Just watching the stupid sheep get herded wherever the media tells them to go.

Giddy? That's a completely asinine statement. These measures are being taken for the protection of people worldwide against a novel virus. Even Trump himself said that this is poised to be one of the worst times for the American people for a long time.

How in any way can this be contorted to be against Trump?

Additionally, economies can't just collapse without underlying weaknesses. The economy wasn't soaring, the numbers were just inflated, and most peoples' wages have been relatively fixed for the past 20 years, even with prices for almost everything going up.

Unemployment down? Who cares about that if most of the new jobs have been minimum wage slave jobs. If you're retired and have enough, great, but most of the people before retirement age aren't going to be able to, mostly because this "wonderful, soaring, most yuge economy ever" left them behind.

Maybe I'm a sheep for looking at things logically, and hearing what the media has to say, but I'm no slave to Fox, Breitbart, or Trump. What Trump has done to foreign policy and foreign relations in some domains will probably be irreparable for a generation, and soliciting foreign aid in elections should be considered treason.

I am a gov employee and got called back as essential. I was having a blast hanging at home. Now I am doing all sorts of busy work and useless crap. How is counting bottles of hand sanitizer essential? I do it daily morning and evening before I go home to track how many bottles the day shift and how many bottle police and fire use at night. Then I enter those two #s into an excel sheet and forward it to my bosses who send it to theirs.

PUT A SHEET BY THE STOREROOM AND HAVE SOMEONE SIGN IT WHEN THEY TAKE A BOTTLE TO TRACK IT! You can pinpoint who and when they take it!

I am just a worker bee but dang. So many problems with complicated solutions.

What does the gov do efficiently? NOTHING! and I work for a municipality!

Rant over. I will head in to work now and drink coffee for an hour before starting to count. Glad I have 8 hours to complete my 6 minute task so I can take a few breaks.

nothing will go back to any form of normality till there is a vaccine..
till then boarders will stay closed or restricted world wide...

Here in NZ... we have only 800 cases and one death..."so far"
almost all of the 800 cases can be linked to overseas travel or contact
with someone that has returned or come from overseas..
only 1% to community transfer... They are saying as long as things
keep going as they are we could be the first country to eradicate it ..
we still have another 3 weeks of isolation... but may play safe and
make it longer...
The last thing we should do is open our boarders or put people back
to work to early..

A benefit of living on a small island at the bottom of the
pacific with only 5 millon people...things are more manageable...

but the economy is still going to be toast at the end of this...

Consider yourself lucky. Over 9000 cases and 310 deaths just here in Louisiana as of this morning. Most are within 60 miles of where i live.

Less traffic, got 15GB of free data on my phone, probably get a check from the Gov (which I will have to return next April), no longer watch the news, don't have to think of something to talk about when the room gets quite, plenty of healthy food in the grocery store, and cheap gas.

I went to camp today and pulled in a 150 lb 6 footer ,it was too big to land myself in my little boat so I got it over to my dock and dragged it on shore .Too bad it was just a brand new railway tie ,floating down the river l.o.l. ,but I will find a use for it .

I heard a good substitute for attending funerals. Find out the route of the funeral procession. Stand beside the road along the route while still practicing social distancing. You can still pay your respects and support for the family without much danger of exposure.
