Wow, 2 more months of winter! I'm in Texas, we usually see about 2 weeks of winter total but for some reason, the cold is sticking around here longer than expected. I just ordered a pair of RFY shocks myself and sending them off to be rebuilt by CL Mototech. I'll post here once my build is underway. Your bike looks great and I'm glad I'm not to be the only one out here with a Spade project.

Please start a build thread and post pictures. We’d love to see it. I just have a few more things to finish on my Spade. My daughter’s Jeep Cherokee has been getting all my money and attention for now.

Newbie copy cat

Hello, my name is Danny and live in Rowlett TX and new to the forum.

I recently purchased a Kymco Spade and have begun modding it.
I'm essentially copy catting Sam as his mods are tastefully done and exactly what I'm wanting to do. He has been very helpful on my project and happy to share info on his Spade mods. Thx Sam!

I have owned Ducati 1098's, Triumph 675, Yamaha R1, R6, Honda CBR 929rr, Harley's and I will tell you this Spade is the funnest bike I have owned. Its great for running around my city running errands or on some backwoods twisty roads. Obviously not as fast as my other bikes but the fun factor is way higher

Anyway, I have so far done the following.

RSV piggy back shocks- Feel better than stock, likely won't rebuild.
Rental bars and bar end mirrors
Adjustable levers
Ram mount for phone (GPS)
Smoked my blinkers and added super bright LED bulbs with new flasher relay
Smoked LED tail light
Hack job fender eliminator kit (just cut down the OEM and made it less ugly) I really wanted to keep the little trunk for sunglasses, wallet ins. card etc.
GP style pipe with DB killer
Heat wrapped factory header
LED headlight

I'm waiting on more decals but going for an old warplane look. I'm an Air Force brat so going to lean that direction. I have some bomb decals coming (shows # of missions on old WW2 planes and some more pin-up style decals)

The beauty of the decals is they are cheap and I can change the whole theme every year if I want so dont be too hard on me if you dont like it. ha

Only thing left is probably doing a seat job, little softer foam and cafe style hump in the back.
Might also replace the pegs with flatter rubber profile for comfort.

Here she is at different stages of the project.
Not in order and the one pic that is sideways I have rotated before uploading but it defaults back, sorry for the newbie mistakes.

You’re very welcome, Danny. The bike looks great! I love the graphics. Well done.

I have a similar motorcycle experience. My past bikes include: several Buells, Harleys, a Ural Gear Up, KLR650, KLX250, KTM950S, Honda CX500, Virago and many more. I have leaned more towards the dual sport bikes because of where I live. At this point in my life, I can ride pretty much whatever I want. The small bikes simply offer more smiles per mile, as the saying goes. The Spade is great fun and I’m hoping for an early riding season.

The focus on my Spade has been to remove as much weight as possible to help out the top speed. This is just a playbike for me, as I don’t ride on the street much anymore. My loop may include a short stretch of highway from time to time. Most of my riding is off-road on my property now. The Spade won’t be used for that. One of the events that I attend yearly, requires me to have a registration to use a bike at the event. A small bike was important to me for this event and the Spade is perfect.

I’m sure Danny would echo my recommendation of the KYMCO Spade 150i. This is a very nice bike.

I guess you can say I'm waiting on more options for exhausts and need to decide on brake light/turn signals. Ground and wrapped stock exhaust and temp integrated brake/turn led. MNNTHBX upper clamp and knock off clip-ons. What size of shocks are you guys buying? I think Sam said 15" but I measure 13" from eye to eye?

Fender Delete - Exhaust Wrap

The MNNTHBX fender delete kit worked great. Until I decide on brake/turn signals this cheap LED strip will work. I found a matte charcoal at HomeDepot which matched pretty close. Not sure what exhaust I play to go with so this will have to work for now.

Hi Danny, What are the part numbers for those levers? And Where did you get that exhaust? Links would be great.

I went with 14" shocks for mine to give it just a bit more travel over stock.
These fit pretty easily and feel better than the stock ones as far as dampening and rebound.

Thanks man! Thats awesome! I'm usually not into decals but those are so subtle and clean looking it looks like a factory option.

So you got the Matte Black one?
