Still running the NGK but the Brisk is on my list. Waiting on my new carburetor. According to tracking my carburetor is in flight from China. might get here quicker than I thought.

This is an awesome mod Jerry. Just a couple of questions; I see in the pictures that one of the wires goes to ground. Where does the other one go to? I have the Rhino ATV that has a similar engine but haven't even looked at the coil yet. I may do this conversion based on how well it goes for you. Another question; you cut the spring down to get it to fit. Does this do something with the resistance? I have no clue about such things but seems that with a shorter spring something has changed. I don't know why but it jumped out at me going though the thread.

I have question for Dan also. You said that you were going with the a 3 wire rather than 2. Can you explain this more? Just trying to learn things from you guys as I plan on doing a COP conversion of my Magna if I can get my other projects out of the way and get off my duff.

Thanks to both of you.

Your existing coil has one wire. It's a signal wire and goes to the positive side of coil.

The three wire coil basically adds a srcond ground path to help isolate the primary and secondary windings. It allows for a more clean, stable, and powerful ignition event and also helps the coil run a bit cooler with the same dwell time as a 2 wire coil.

I put another 60+ miles on it yesterday. I did a few WOT runs from a dead stop. It pulls hard up to 8500 rpm's through 1st,2nd and 3rd where before it would start falling off at about 7500 rpm's. At one time the stock coil performed well but I guess it was deteriorating and performance was falling off. I have just over 3000 mile on the bike. We'll see at 6000 miles if this coil holds up.

If you are thinking about doing this mod and don't feel comfortable cutting the boot and spring or just plain azz lazy lol You can order this boot.

I would need the ignition coil, thr boot(since I don't want to cut it, and the connector to do this? i keep getting a misfire at about 7500 rpm and I'm think it might be ignition related.

Do I need the connector or can I use thr one on the bike already? that connector is out of stock.

If the CDI has a rpm limiter, you may be running into that at 7500 rpm. I can't remember if the CB bikes have them or not.

You will need the connector too. Rev limiter is at about 8500 rpm's so your not reaching that. My coil was acting the same way right before I changed to the cop. Are you still running the stock Torch plug? If you are then upgrade to a good plug. Stock plug didn't last long on my Hawk.

I think this one would work, but I'm not sure.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01N4..._t1_B01405MLI4

Would it be beneficial to just change out the spark plug? im running a champion brand spark plug. i bought the cheapest one they had for my bike when I first got it, as I was trying to get it to run when I bought it used. so I've had it pr9banly 1000k miles or so? maybe 2k, my stock speedometer broke and i haven't set up the aftermarket Speedo yet, just the tach9meter.

Those look like the same ones. Not sure you will need 8 unless you're planning on slapping a V8 on it.

It wouldn't hurt to swap out to a NGK DPR8EIX-9 Iridium IX Spark Plug.

Another thing you want to do is check and adjust the valves if you haven't done that yet. Just about all these bikes come with the valves set too tight from the factory.
