RE the BARF thread...read as much as I needed to form an opinion. It will take a bunch of 20-30K mile bike reports to sway any of the nay-sayers. Some will never come around. Although fit and finish really are top notch we have to admit that some parts of the bike are built down to a price point. If you really want Brembo Gold brakes you have to pay for them. The same for Ohlins suspension. A $4K (new!) bike ain't gonna have those kind of farkles. I could point out countless other brands where the same point applies...and they generally cost 2.5 times as much. In short, the Zong RX-3 is one hell of a lot of bike for the price. It's a fantastic road bike that can also tackle fire roads and not break the bank. Perfect...no. I, for one, have yet to find the perfect bike and I have been looking for about 55 years.

I just got done reading the whole thread. I noticed how the naysayers came on pretty strong at the beginning but kind of mellowed by page 8. Pretty sure it had to do with Joe's humor, his refusal to be sucked into the typical chinese-motorcycles-are-junk-debate, and his admission that the bikes do have problems but CSC is willing to address them.

Oh, and by the way, do you guys know that Joe is a writer and has books for sale on Amazon.com?

I read the whole thing and it's pretty normal. I was more than pleasantly surprised by some of the more friendly comments though.
These folks are from the Bay Area. It's a different, much more expensive world there. I wouldn't expect a warm welcome for an inexpensive CB. A Beemer on the other hand.........
I just hope there's no dribble-over from the forum. Let them think what they want. We know the truth....and hey, CB's aren't for everyone, especially if you don't have a garage and rely on a local dealer to do your oil changes.

Found it and loving it

http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/fo...d.php?t=501556

This is great entertainment.

Half way through. Joe is slaying with his humility and backing it up with his qualifications.

Always nice to see honest confident people win.

One reader says Check, Joe comes back with Check Mate ! Especially funny when the naysayers sites something that Joe has long since discussed ,and published himself !

I read it (the BARF pissfest) too. Joe is a guy I'd want in my corner, anytime.

I can see him getting banned (in error) for advertising, but in my opinion, it'd be wrong. If the GM from KTM, Suzuki, Honda was on their site, they'd treat him like a king. Whatever. From my perspective, he's encouraging people to do their homework before passing judgement. He's answering questions openly and honestly. He's swimming upstream to dispel myths. The book sale thing is just tongue in cheek humor, which some people just will never get. I swear, some of those people didn't get hugged enough (or got hugged too much) as kids.

Imo, not endorsed in any way by Joe B.

Adv dad ... The book sale thing is just tongue in cheek humor, which some people just will never get. I swear, some of those people didn't get hugged enough (or got hugged too much) as kids. *** Mortal sin in the San Francisco socialist climate, to these, even tongue in cheek is not something to mention. Stay on the reservation. 1st amendment recognized just not followed.

Also, amazing the way Joe is handling with his "killing with kindness " approach.

Last post apparently show Joe being called to the office I think , "The (sole) owner of this website has sent you a Private Message. Have you responded to him? It would be in your best interest to do so quickly"

People freaking out about capitalism no doubt. Probably threw a few circuit breakers over there.

Also, interesting how that site has all these rules bandied about in the BARF TERMS OF SERVICE, but no problems with members throwing 1 finger salutes around .

Rz3 motorcycle

I believe this rz3 bike is creating a Firestorm in the bike world already. It's breaking conventions. These type are typically held in reserve for the top of the market performance niche (exotic naked performers ).

Sounds like they are looking to squeeze him of some "Paid Membership fees ($$$$$)" for posting amazon links to his few books... and also him just being around talking about "CSC Motorcycles" will probably involve some kind of "Paid membership" on Mr Berks part by the looks of the members there...

That forum seems like the rest of them out there... thousands of people ready to give their strong thoughts and beliefs with no real world/first hand experience with whatever they are bit*in about ... or the few people who show up complaining about China bikes from 2004... or China bikes sold in Russia who knows how many years ago... either way, all of them posting still have no real world experience with TODAYS Chinese bikes

Let them keep their $14,000 to 20,000+ bikes, that's just $10,000 - 16,000+ extra we have to spend on our families and not a fancy Badge on a bike

In lots of places around the world, people are working to survive and feed their kids. Bikes are transportation, workhorses there. They need to be sturdy and functional. In the US, bikes are a luxury item. Things that say "look at me!" OR, items that are practical and fun. Many want them bigger, more expensive and perfect.

I personally enjoy riding for many reasons; fun, together time with my wife (a luxury with 5 kids, and 4 jobs between us both) a mental break from cell phones, internet, work, bosses, reports, etc. I don't need or want any extra attention from anyone. I have all I want and need at home My bikes have to be a balance of what is fun, what I want, and what I can responsibly pay for.

That said, I don't mind keeping my machines in good working order. I expect to do a once-over, clean, tighten and maintain them, as most of us do here on this forum. Many riders take their bike to the dealerships for an oil change. That's their choice, so the Indian and Chinese bikes just don't work for them. What bothers me is they have no right nor reason to bash what millions of people rely on, and enjoy.

The BARF vocal minority seem like a bunch of total uppity jerks, which isn't the word I want to use. If they need to denigrate an owner of a Chinese or Indian bike to make themselves feel better, or compensate for a "shortage" of their reproductive organ, then I hope it makes them feel better. Still won't make it bigger. Some schoolyard bullies never grow up.

I find BARF to be appropriately named .... I'm sure today's blog by Joe concerning the latest positive article/listing of the CSC bikes is additional salt to the wounds of the ignorant.

Interesting reactions, to be sure.

Thanks for all the nice things you all wrote.

Folks, I am firmly in your corner, all the time, as are Steve, Maureen, Gerry, Ryan, Sara, Patty, Willie, and all the rest of the good people at CSC.

Now, about those books...

Joe, you are a trooper to engage those guys (really only one or two) and maintain the high ground. We are dealing with long standing opinions based on either what they have been told or what they saw in some low quality Chinese product. I have to laugh at the folks who say our bikes will rust away, without ever seeing one.

On a not related note: The RC3 and RZ3 have larger gas tanks. Will they fit on the RX3? I do not mind losing the plastic panels that say "Adventure" on my bike if I can get another gallon of gas along with a better mount for my magnetic tank bag.

That was my first thought when I saw the specs on the RC/RZ fuel tank, too, but unfortunately, they are not interchangeable. The RZ/RC has a different tank mounting approach than does the RX3, and the bikes' frames are substantially different. I'd like a bit more capacity in the RX3 tank, too, but it's not likely that's going to happen any time soon. Putting a larger tank on the RX3 would involve a fairly extensive (and very expensive) set of tooling modifications.
