so the equipment should be available, but the one in the photo may be a European model or something. I bet the dealer would have some insight

The one's I've seen do not have any lights.... Will call dealer and ask.

No lights or kickstand on the ones on Husky's US website...

I believe I called that dealer in regard to a low price on a new WR250R. He added a bunch of bogus fees to the "advertised" price. :roll: However, my memory might be wrong. It doesn't hurt to give him a telephone call.

You remember correctly. About $500 bogus charges. However, even so, it wourks out to be a good deal.

You're correct; that's still a great deal.

Sadly, I just heard a rumor the Huskies have problems with the fuel injector pumps. :roll: I don't know if it true. :?

Don't know. I don't have a reliable source of Husky data, and I remain concerned about the change in ownership...

Where did you hear that? I wonder which years/models?

For the performance of a KTM, more panache of an exotic, and 2/3 the price it remains tempting though.

I heard the rumor on ADVRider. I also seem to remember reading it in the past somewhere else. :roll: If the rumor was true, perhaps Husky fixed the problem. A Google search should yield enough information to help one make a purchase decision.

Why don't you get a CRF450X? I'm sure you could find a great deal on that bike. It has a headlight, tail light, and electric starter.

I am considering the 450X also but...

What I read about it it may not suit me. Lower low end power by class standards, about 20-30 lbs heavier than it's competition, dodgy Honda titanium valves, carbureted when all it's competition is EFI, no updates at all since it's introduction in 2005, very small tank, short gearing (poor for any highway use) 5 speed, etc.

It just doesn't 'speak' to me...

Out of the Japanese bikes, of which there are really only two, I prefer the WR450. Better transmission ratios, EFI, better low end power, a little lighter, bigger tank, and a more bulletproof engine (by reputation).

I have ridden the 450X also. It just felt heavy to me, and slow to turn. The power felt fine but it needed to be revved more than, lets say, my YZ400F to get the power going. First gear felt a tad too high, and the other ratios were packed in too tightly for my taste. I like a wide ratio transmission, especially on an bike that I want to D/S.

The Achille's heel of the big X is also it's radiators. They are big enough to cool a F150! The stick out more than a bit and are vunerable to crash damage. This has been an issue for the person who's 450X I had the privelage of riding.

I have not yet ridden the new WR450, or any new Husky. I have ridden a few KTMs though. :wink:

It's kinda confusing. I may just stick with my KLX . It works well, it's paid for, and looks and rides brand new 8) . I only wish it had more suspension for landing jumps, and more power for sand and maybe freeway. I also wish it had EFI for 9,000 foot Idaho mountains, and I wish it was quieter.

All those 'flaws' are pretty minor and easily overlooked. The key is to:
a) Enjoy it for what it is.
b) Get my adreniline fix on the YZ400F.
c) Stay off KTM's!

Another advantage of my mildly powered KLX is it has no desire to kill me, and costs almost nothing to maintain in terms of time or expense.

One of the nice things about the big bores is you still get tons of power with a quiet stock exhaust.

I agree; stick with the KLX250S. You have the YZ400F for your adrenaline fixes.

A few modifications, and you could be the first Zongshen owner with a 55 hp engine.
