I've had the same experience in the past. I heartily recommend a filter that is made in the USA.

2LZ, have you considered a heat gun on the Loctite, rather than a torch? Perhaps that would do the trick without damaging anything.

Yah...ya know, I do have a new heat gun I picked up at HFT (Super Coupon, of course ;-)). I may give that a whirl....but it's no where near as fun as fire! hee hee hee........

I haven't had any problem with the front end of my bike, so I'm not fiddling with it! One of the things I did before putting any distance on it though was to equalize both screws and make sure there wasn't any twist or stiction to the front end.

Ryan already got back to me! They just got the caps and mine will be in the mail today. These CSC folks are amazing. I hope they don't go broke with warranty claims!...but I guess it's expected on the first major rush of a new product.

Man, I'm really pleased with their service. They've already got my loyalty for that alone, even if the products are going through some growing pains.

If the TT250 has a filter in the tank like the Hawk does, I'd ditch the inline filter.

odd, in general I would agree with what you say, however, there are several different considerations at work here. I would posit that where a part is one with an historical predilection towards difficulties, that a failure at an inapportune time , either because of where you are when the problem arises, or because of what you are doing at the time the failure occurs-and either way fun is over....AND the part is cheap....

That's a good point. I guess I should adjust my position a little: if I know of lots of problems with a part, I'd probably replace it with a known good equivalent rather than ditch it entirely. Either way would be simple enough, and I'd rather have the redundancy than lose it.

Tusk 30mm Risers

Well good morning fellow China Riders! Got lots done yesterday after work so let's get rolling.

For those interested, I installed the 30mm Tusk risers last night and I'm happy to say that there is more than enough wire, throttle cable, etc...to be able to install these without a hitch. The only thing not hooked up yet is the front brake but the braided line seems more than long enough or can be easily rerouted to accommodate. I don't have them snugged all the way yet as I'll need to adjust the bars to Mrs. 2LZ liking once the TT is back on its feet.

As usual, Tusk delivered a very fine product for the money...with free shipping.

BTW, the color I picked for the bars turned out perfect with the front fender and other dark plastics. Very pleased. Mrs. 2LZ is happy too so that's what counts, right? I thought they ended up looking kinda classy compared to the stock awful gray.

Swingarm Grease, etc...

Well, as expected, there wasn't much grease on the swingarm bushings and seal cups. It as there in splotches and who knows the quality...so I cleaned it all up and went after it with some good quality grease.

In the first pic, left seal cup, you can see the amount of grease that was in the seal cup that it came with...and it was the greasiest one. I'd cleaned out the other seal cup and wiped the bushings clean, ready to re-grease. BTW, the pivot axle was bone dry, as expected. The last pic is the amount of grease I used. Wipe off the excess around the seal cups after reassembly.

Once re-greased, I also put a nice skin of grease on the pivot axle and reassembled. I then cleaned and put a thin coating of grease on the shock bushings before mounting it, more for protection than anything else.
