A co worker used to have a 4 door F150.
The bed on that thing was tiny! He had a tool box in the bed, and there was just enough room to fold over the cargo box extender. The tailgate was much narrower too. I told him I had more room in the trunk of my crown vic!

this is not the exact truck but it is the same year, color, and has the lift i want. the only thing missing is the black brush guard, and the rims need to be smaller with chrome rivits and larger off road tires

Wow! 8O This has come a long way from a cheap truck to haul a chinese quad around with. I think you could buy 20 or 30 china quads for the price of this rig!

Yeah, You should try to focus and prioritize. Get a beater truck and only spend enough money on it to keep it running.
That way you can have some fun with your ATV. Spend a couple of dollars on a "MY OTHER CAR IS A MUSTANG" sticker if you think you might be embarrased.

I don't think I'm hijacking, since this thread has already drifted to trucks.

Son of Weldangrind bought a cherry 2WD '91 Ranger with a 3.0 and a five speed, and it has a six foot box and an extended cab. It is a one owner truck with 180000 miles on it, and it's in awesome shape. He picked it up for $850.00.

At that price, I figured we could build another 3.0 and have it ready on the engine stand for when the original takes a dump. It'll be perfect for hauling our dirt bikes to Nickelmine.

i had a phone call with my grandmother today, before my grandfather passed away about 5 years ago they bought a cherry 99 silver ford 150 4 door short bed fx4 edition truck with a paint matched fiber glass hard top bed cover(not a camper) which i would sell and give her the cash for. when they bought it, it had around 30k on it, as it is now it only has 37k on it. she mentioned trying to sell it, then i mentioned i could really use a truck and asked what she would want for it. she offered me a price tag of 4k with 200 dollar a month payments untill my stang is paid off then the payments would go up to 350 a month untill its paid off..

i thik its a hell of a deal and a good one for me cuz i drop my insurance to liability only on the stang and garage the stang for weekend use only or for when i take the gf for a night out. put full coverage on the truck and use it as a daily driver.

the only down side is she wants to hang on to it for another few months cuz she is planning on buying new furniture and yard stuff and needs it to haul what she buys back to the house. so i should be taking delivery on it in november or december which gives me time to save some extra cash to put down on it or i might just dip into the nest egg ive started and pay it all off or atleast match whatever i have saved on the side with money from the nest egg. to where at 200 a month it would be paid off in a year or less.

Sounds like a good opportunity for you to keep the truck in the family. Which engine is in it?

There was a TSB on the 4.2 V6 for intake and timing cover gasket leakage, which could cause external or internal coolant leakage. I swapped the gaskets on a buddy's '97 F-150 , and the replacement gaskets were considerably thicker.

Don't know anything about the 5.4, but I've read about piston slap. Don't know it to be true; find out which engine is in the truck and then hit a Ford enthusiast board.

Early model 5.4L were eating spark plug threads.

I was out of the industry before rebuilds became prominent, however the 4.6 and 5.4 were very labour intensive motors and when we did get called to quote, it usually scared the customer off with a 5K+ price...so never saw much of them other than fixing numerous spark plug holes.

i always use just the slightest amount of anti seize on my spark plugs..about half way up the threads enough to go 1/2 around the plug, like maybe a drop's worth on the threads and ive never had a issue with a plug snapping or being hard to get out..

That would be a great buy on that truck. You would be able to drive it for years.

Don't worry about the sparkplugs. I believe they have repair kits available now.

I read all about them while researching an expedition. The FX4 model I am pretty sure is standard with the 5.4L.

saw a 09 mustang gt around 11pm last night hauling a small trailor with a a yamaha wr450 ( i think, the dirtbike was bike and said yamaha) the trailor had a rack for spare tires, and a rack for 2 spare large gas cans.. must have 2 x 5gallon sized gas cans.. appeared to have a hide away hitch.. still looked kind of funny, but look better towing it then say a ford tarus or escort that ive seen.. really funny thing was i had just been talking to my girl about the fact that i have never really seen in person a mustang towing a trailor for a quad or dirtbike, like 3 days ago.. then we see this, i wanted to catch up to him but we had to exit off to go to the bar..
