Well my son and I went out for another ride on the weekend. I met a fellow rider through another forum who also has a son that rides and he invited us out to check out a small riding area on the backside of Vedder Mountain near Yarrow.

The weather was nice and there was a lot less traffic than the previous spot we have been riding.

The rest of my sons gear finally arrived (except the neck brace)

He had previously rode up this hill without a problem so I thought I would video it for my wife, oooops.

He was ok, just needed a short break during which he got a quick video of me. Then he jumped back on his bike and continued riding.

Thanks for posting the nice videos.

That won't be the last time he falls. I know; I fall all the time.

I keep telling him that everyone falls now and then so he doesn't get discouraged. So far he keeps getting back up and continues riding.

Thanks, he is getting better and is willing to give things a try at least. He didn't tackle this little hill again but he will again I am sure. I showed him that his throttle grip is already torn on the end and he looked at me and said "Meh, it happens, just part of riding" lol

That's great! He sounds like a natural.

Thanks for the vids.
When we got home and his mom seen the video/scrapes/bruises she was a little worried. She asked him if he wanted to maybe stop riding, he looked at her like she had 3 heads and said "No" lol

If we get one half decent day this upcoming long weekend I think we are heading back to Gill.

That's a great story.

Mom's always worry, but they soon discover healthy boys want to grow up to be men.

So we have been doing family riding outings, since my last post we picked up an Arctic Cat DVX300 for my wife so we can all enjoy getting out.

I have also been doing a bit of single track riding at Tamihi and Vedder, LOVE IT, however on my last outing this happened....

Bike needs cylinder head, valves, springs, piston, rings, crank, rod etc, to the tune of about $2300+ for just the parts. I don't plan on getting rid of the bike but also didn't feel like dropping that much cash right at the moment so I picked this up on the weekend for $1000 (1993 Yamaha WR250Z 2 Stroke)

Runs great, has the wide ratio transmission from the factory, PO's installed a flywheel weight, pipe guard, skid plate, rad guards, hand guards. It has a new rear tire, new clutch, new chain/sprockets. It will be great for the woods, can't wait to take it out. I have a new seat cover, grips, levers, handlebars and brake pads on order. So far total investment of $1183.42

A happy wife is a very good thing.

That is some major damage to your WR250F. Did either the valve spring, or the valve stem break, allowing the valve to drop?
