I read in a past post not to use synthetic for the break-in. I can't remember why but I'm sure someone here can.

You can use synthetic oil for the engine break-in. However, since you will be changing the oil frequently, it's less expensive to use conventional motor oil. Therefore, most people use conventional motor oil for engine break-in, and switch to synthetic motor oil after engine break-in is completed.

We use a lot of different companies, in this particular case Q9 wanted UPS, it was cheaper for that particular order. We generally go through R+L, Roadrunner, and Estes.

I bought the gallon Dino Rotella (enough for 4 changes) but will buy the full synthetic thereafter

The internet story goes something like this....
It's to good & dosn't let the motor componets bed in...

just use a good 10/40 or 10/50 semi syn motor bike oil..
no need for a full syn oil unless you are racing it
or stressing it to it's limits...

use a motor bike oil... as car type oils are not formulated
to lube the gear box/clutch...

Undoubtedly you probably have more Gearhead experience than I have known for sure. My little Bashan 250 was probably designed in the sixties and built to the specifications of the leading Dino oil of its time. I'm sure Dino oil will do fine with the types of engines. With that being said I will choose to use full synthetic. Something that is just $5 a quart just is not a big deal to me for 4 oil changes to a gallon. My thinking is that I might as well use the best type on the market in case I go over the allotted oil change interval.

I wonder what it is about oil. There are so many choices on the market that it's sure stirs up lots of opinions. I've gone over previous post and they are certainly prolific.
