Picked up New LED Bulbs for the New Truck. Stock Halogen bulbs seen dim and yellow after having LED on the Old truck.

These are so much brighter. You know they're bright when street signs reflect the light during the daylight. lol

deer

A deer piled into my son's '02 Vitara driver door.

Yes, he was hit by a deer.

It ran across he road behind an oncoming car. It nailed his driver door window glass, and took out the mirror too. Mess inside the car for him to vacuum out. ~$225 to replace those two items. I should be done with the deck in time for when the parts arrive.

The door is not damaged other than that. Hmmm. Pretty lucky it wasn't worse. It wil look undamaged when I get these installed.

A new front hub for the Ural. The one on there is so worn internally that I'm readjusting the bearings just about every month. Sometime in its past, the bearings were spun. I was going to re-sleeve the hub but either way I'll need to take the spokes out and re-lace the wheel that, price-wise, it's a wash.

It may seem I'm dumping a lot of money into this turd, but it's 16 years old and hasn't really needed anything in the past other than tires.

I bought JB Weld.

Amazingly, the mirror was popped off, thrown past him into the passenger footwell. Intact with wiring buss snapped apart "OK" I think. The three brass mounting bosses were ripped out of the mirror body. But they are there in the door

I have a temporary or perhaps permanent fix. I think I can put them back. More to come...

Who could it be? ..... Satan?

epoxied back in place

We think this mirror will work. Well, that is if the wiring didn't get disconnected when it was sheared off!

The holes for the brass threaded inserts are deep so no problem with excess epoxy.

ThreeBrassInserts.JPG

We coated the walls of the hole with some as well. They were snug, and had to be tapped in place to fit fully into their recessed position. Threads are clean, wiped off excess. Curing. Maybe we will have a functioning mirror back on the car tomorrow.

Photo editing is so important for sharing photos by email or text, creating online slideshows (like using Flickr or other photo hosting resources), photos for listings on ebay and craigslist!

I bought permanent licenses for Photoshop 5, then later 6.0, and later 10.0 over the years,

but then Adobe decided to block me from using those "permanent" licenses and wanted an annual subsubscription No way!

So now I edit and resize photos using Gnu Image Manipulation Program (GIMP). It has powerful image processing tools like color balance, color temperature, distort/blur options (many), contrast/darkness, and you can even place text into images, insert arrows, etc. Of course, you can resize (pixel density, dimensions). It has more editing functions than I need (!), similar to Photoshop, but you can download and install it free.

Here is an example of an image I edited for Craigslist. The "scale image" (resize tool) is under the image pull down menu. You can see it in the screenshot below:

Fretboard-setup.jpg

it is definitely worth the effort setting up a photo editor on your desktop. I made my avatar for this website using GIMP.

You can correct for image problems like washed out (too light) exposure, poor color balance, improve contrast, crop/trim to the part of the photo you want to work with, resize and save as jpg, png, or a dozen other file formats. Definitely worth the trouble!

Here is a photo from the Summit of Sauk Mountain, with Mt Baker in the background. This was a vacation this past Summer.

SaukMountainSummit-crop.jpg

And here is a picture from a couple of days earlier, on the summit of the Ski area (Mt Baker ski area).

MtBakerChairLift.jpg

The Sauk Mtn photo was taken by me, holding my phone crooked by about 3.6 degrees clockwise. Duh! So in GIMP, use the transform/rotate tool (-3.6). Here is the result. The horizon is ~flat now:

SaukMountainSummit-rotated.jpg

Then crop to eliminate the blank crooked margins:

I just upload whatever images to postimage.com. Then I link to them as needed. They are sized to a default automatically. Plus there are some VERY basic and minimal tools there in case I upload one upside down or something. Almost no learning curve at all.
