I miss my Hodaka.
Also I did a compression test on it cold after sitting for a week with throttle help wide open. Only got 100psi out of it . I think it should be closer to 125-135 to run good. Mine has always ran good but didn't seem to have the power of other RX3s on the trips when I've rode with them.
thanks rj
It will just work if you ONLY remove the frame part around the engine - no need to remove the engine.

Stick tongue out to the left to get the top of the motor off

Yes, the 300 kit can be installed with the engine in the frame. NzB's pic is a lot more stripped than necessary. Getting too the engine was more time consuming than installing the kit. The actual engine work was simple.

Agreed. Very easy mechanics. The toughest part about installing mine was the three very curious neighbors leaning in real close with beer breath. ;-)

rj, I JUST got enough room to install it in the frame and had it dangling by the rear mount.

NZ, unless I blew past it, what happened with the new stepper motor? That's my only complaint is that mine is still stalling. It's like a curse....

I'm about to help a friend to do a top end job in his bike. We're going to try to do it with the engine in frame.

The part about removing the subframe is clear.
When you say "rear mount" is that the rear swingarm axle? Or the two mounting of the engine to the frame just below it?

Regards
Juanro

Swingarm. It was just dangling there. I removed every mount but that one.

CLEAN the throttle body and focus on the stepper motor passage.
Gently wire brush the crud of the stepper motor nose, brake clean and cotton wool down in the hole where the passages and stepper motor nose meet/meter etc.
Steppers are fairly common and TMAP sensors too for not working correctly.

I left the swing arm bolt in place - the top of the rocker hat will just come out with a twist and a lean to one side and JUST get it out no issue

Yeah, I got mine from him and would recommend it. All the parts and gaskets you will need. And none of the insanity of that Taobao site.

+1

Yes, that's a big +1. NzB sends all the parts you'll need and then some. Great value you don't get elsewhere. You buy from NzB you will not have to order other parts.
