Gave the Feds too much all year so we are getting a chunk back. Decided to replace my old gun cabinet with this beast. Everyone says buy a bigger safe than you think you need and I followed that advice. After putting all my guns inside it looks kinda sparse so now I think I need more guns.

Laughing "Full Monty"

Well, it's Saturday and I finally got the car back to the work shop, so I found out some details on it...

It's a 1997 "Chevrolet" Metro LSi... Chevy badge proudly showing on the front of the car... but "Geo Metro" proudly painted on the rear ...

It's really odd because "Chevy" didn't "start making Geo clones" until 1998 from what I can find from parts searching... so I might have one of the first batches of "Chevy Geo" cars they ever made.

Has the "Full Monty - 1.3 liter, 4 cylinder engine", 3 speed automatic transmission (this needs to go for a 5 speed manual ASAP!!!), and it only had 158,400 miles when we got it this morning...

It will (at the least) need a "front exhaust pipe/catalytic converter" (ordered already) and the mid/rear pipe and muffler setup... the stock exhaust is a weee bit rusted out... other than that, it's "good to go"... it goes 65+ miles per hour easily enough for a 1.3L car IMO I don't know why it wouldn't be able to go on the Highway/Interstates

A few pics* here and I might start a new thread for this and the rest of my cars and projects I have with them, this "Chevy/Geo" Metro is an 'easy to work on' project car for sure... let the modding - errrr - fixing it up begin

* I already removed part of the "Air Intake" to do part of the 4 stage fuel/induction system cleaning... found the rear part of the exhaust sitting in the trunk oh the fun of $200 cars

Had an 'Econocrap' battery is more like it... I already replaced that heavy junk with a 1 pound Lithium Battery ... didn't weigh the old battery just yet but I'm guessing I dropped at least 30 pounds of fat off the front of my Econo car

"Full Monty" was only in reference to the engine being a, 1.3 liter 70 hp fuel injected model... it could have had the, 40 hp carbureted 0.99 liter engine after all

"Full Monty" had nothing to do with any and all crap products installed on the car by my father in law things like:

Autolite Copper Spark Plugs? An Econocrap battery? Generic looking, no-name/no-print Spark Plug Wires? "Made in Mexico" Air Filter? A few Autozone/Duralast sensors and relays? Anyone here that thinks those are premium branded* items needs their head checked pronto

Again... these cheap/crappy things above are not what made it the "Full Monty", it was only the size of the engine that mattered here

* NGK, Denso, Delphi, SMP (Standard Motor Products), Airtex Wells, WIX, AEM, Bosch, Bosal, etc., are usually my "Go to premium branded" parts...

I'd drive the piss outta that wee machine because it gets good fuel mileage. I like micro cars but being around all these jacked up 4x4s is a bit scary.

Haven't taken any pics yet but came home with a February 2003 Coleman Dual Fuel lantern from the Kane County Flea Market today.

Seller was asking $25 and it looked in really nice shape. I offered $20 and she countered at $22. I said sold and reached for my wallet. Seller then said she had the box and got it out for me, then proceeded to pull out what was in the box. Which was everything that should be in the box; funnel, instructions, extra mantles. I gave her the $25 and said I didn't need any change because she had the box.

A quick check after getting it home showed that the mantles were installed and prepped and that was it. It was never fueled. So, I basically got a brand new lantern.

The 02/03 date makes it the newest lantern in my collection.

Super jealous! I have been after one of those lanterns for about four months now. The missus won't let me buy a new one (although she was suspiciously ok with us dropping nearly 20K on a new Ural), and the cheapest one I have come across was at the local walmart missing the filling cap, box, case, and mantles. They still wanted $45 for it!! I have one of the dual fuel burners, and I can't say enough good things about it. The only downside now is that the Ural is Fuel Injected, and it's not a good idea to try to pull the fuel lines to get enough petrol out to fill the cooker... When I go out on the other bikes, it's a no-brainer. Not sure what the solution there will be, but most likely just a simply MSR Fuel Bottle will fit the bill... Congrats on the great score, though! Hope you enjoy the hell out of it!

Here it is.

Emerikol-Great minds think alike. I had camping with the Ural in mind when I bought this. I've got two 10L jerry cans mounted on the sidecar, so fuel isn't an issue. I have alky, kero, and white gas stoves but no dual fuel stove. Yet. I plan to remedy that by May. Probably a Coleman 533 single burner.
